I booked for "Superior Double" with a small sofa for sitting. But they give me lower category room type, "Executive Double" or "Double". And is accessibility room which has no shower door and so slippery after shower. The hotel never mention anything at all during check in. Can not ge what I paid and choose.

Wir können dieses Hotel, auf einem der Campi der Universität von Edinburgh gelegen zu Füssen des Arthur Seats, nur empfehlen! Wer auf gesichtlose, sich letztlich oft gleichende Häuser von Hotelketten steht, sollte dieses Hotel nicht wählen! Wer sich jedoch in einem Haus wohlfühlt, dass den Charme vergangener Zeiten verströmt, welches umringt ist von schön angelegten Gärten, zudem morgendlich exquisite Frühstückszutaten offeriert, von einem sympathischen Personal individuell umsorgt sein möchte, der ist hier richtig! Dies alles macht knirschende Treppen und Dielenböden, und alte Fenster allemal wett! Die Busanbindung in die Innenstadt ist optimal, mehrere Buslinien fahren regelmässig und pünktlich in die City, die in ca. 10-15 Minuten erreicht wird! Ein sehr ruhiges Hotel mit Gesicht und Charme, dass wir sehr gerne weiterempfehlen möchten!

The Scott is a beautiful hotel with amazing staff, gorgeous fine dining restaurant, warm bar area, and beautiful rooms. Quick and easy bus access to the center of Edinburgh. The grounds and gardens are lovely as well. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Truly a great stay. Highly recommend.

The Best Stay ever!
There are no words sufficient to express the degree to which we loved our stay at the Scott Hotel in Edinburgh. The staff are the nicest, warmest, most friendly people imaginable, and all catered to our smallest - and largest -requests! They moved serving tables to accommodate us and our friends for a supper in their cozy Velvet Lounge, and served the meals from their adjacent Brasserie restaurant, and all with smiles and bonhomie. We felt, not like guests, but lords of the manor! A marvellous p, comfortable and most enjoyable visit.

Some good points, some shocking
Overall it was a reasonably pleasant stay. I was not aware - and surprised given the price of the room - that it is not a full service hotel and I'm also surprised that hotels.com does not make this apparent. Some of the staff were lovely, however it was entirely inconsistent (bloke running the bar seemed to be unaware what blended whisky was and whether they had it. Minor point, but odd for a tourist venue in the capital of scotland.) Also, EXTREMELY rude experience from bloke on reception on trying to get a pot of tea from non existent room service. They did make an effort when we complained but it was more 'very sorry for your experience' than 'bloody hell our receptionist said what to you, that's thoroughly unacceptable and here's what we're going to do about it.' Which might, of course, be ok for some people - as might the rudemess. Make your own choice. Only other comment is the quite bizarre decor - it looks like five designers each came up with some ideas and they all got to do what they wanted at once. It didnt detract from our stay, but if you're looking for peaceful - or stylish - 'flow' I'm not sure this is it.

The hotel looks stunning, bus stop outside that takes you in the city centre in 10 minutes. Lovely setting plenty of alternative car parks in the ground, might be awkward parking when the University is open. Right by Arthurs Seat which is a must to do for fantastic views over the city.
