Great location and beautiful view in front of the pier. Bathroom was the best thing in the room, can tell that it has been renovated. Much room for improvement on housekeeping and the rest of the room, such as windows and cleaniness of appliances like hairdryer and kettle. Fair deal in terms of what we paid. At the same time, I can understand the mixed reviews.

A nice and economical place to stay
A grand seaside hotel with efficient service, popular bar and restaurant. Though facilities may be old e.g the lifts, yet they are well maintained. Entrance hall and lounge galleries are huge, relaxing, and comfortable.

Unfortunately, this did not live up to the pictures at all. It is a very worn out place, where you can hear everything and everyone. Not just the extremely squeaky bed and floor, but actually the guests’ entire conversations in the room above us, so no sleep at all (not thinking about people just outside the hotel firing fireworks in the middle of the night). There’s dirt, dust and hair all owed the room and bathroom, including in the bed. That is beyond disgusting, and we definitely expected something else from the pictures. Not worth the money.

Dirty, I mean very dirty! Staff agreed to have the room cleaned whilst we went to dinner and it was still the same several hours later. No attempt was made to clean. Stains on walls, thick dirt and fluff build up on door frames, behind beds, on towel rails, window sills. Refunded in full by Expedia once they had seen my photos.

The hotel is a little bit tired and could do with refurbishment, however the room was a good size, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good. Also the staff were friendly and helpfull. We found it to be very good value for money and would return if in the area.

The welcome from the staff was cheerful and the location was good. Unfortunately the road works just outside the hotel does not help the ascetics of the property. Inside the hotel everything looks tired, the room had an amazing view, although the bed matress was uncomfotable and you could feel the springs as little protection/comfort on top. The bathroom had a bath, although the toilet was almost propped against one was making it awkward to sit on, and the basin had been broken and made good with a mastic seal to hold the bowl in place.

Our first time at this hotel, although we come to Eastbourne regularly. We were given a free upgrade to sea view which made our 20th wedding anniversary very special. Our dog was made to feel welcome too and was allowed in all areas. We loved everything about this hotel. Yes the decor is a little rough in places but it adds to the Victorian feel of the old building. Highly recommended.

Overall we had a good stay ,location wise spot on , bed was clean and comfy rooms need an over hall re-paint lots of marks on walls , very creaky floors , shower needed a good clean and toilet continued to run water even after flushing . Breakfast was average for a 3 star hotel . The two ladies on reception were pleasant and informative 😊

The property is a little dated but our room overlooked the sea and had a wonderful view. It was definitely worth what we paid for it. We loved that there is car parking too. A great spot to stay near the pier, beach and town centre!

Staff are amazing and accommodating. Security staff are also amazing. They ensure only those staying are allowed in after a certain time of night. Each night I left to get food, they made sure to check up on me to ensure I got back. I found this to be amazing given the price of the stay. You can’t beat somewhere with actual customer service. The staff are a credit to the hotel.

I was very disappointed with my recent stay. The room was in poor condition and did not match the photos shown on Expedia. The door was damaged and felt unsafe. The carpet was heavily stained and appeared not to have been cleaned in quite some time. The bathroom was also in a poor state, paint was peeling throughout, and the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. Overall, the room felt unclean and unhygienic, which made the stay very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this hotel based on the experience I had.
