I came to town with some family to perform in a concert at Fort Lewis Community Concert Hall. The house was perfect for our needs. We arrived early in the week to explore the town. The Durango-Silverton Train was worth the ticket price for us. Beautiful scenery, especially when you got out of town and began the mountain climb. We visited the Aztec ruins as our music was based on Indian heritage, Chaco Canyon would have been on the list, but the weather did not cooperate for that. Many orchestra members went to Mesa Verde which was nearby Durango as well. The Hot Springs north of Durango were a real treat. My husband did some skiing at Purgatory as well. The concert went very well and I recommend checking the Fort Lewis Concert schedule whenever you come. They have a full schedule and it's an excellent venue at a great price. The house was a great location for all of our activities! We walked along Main street, the path to the Animas River, the Horse Gulch Trail to the Powerline. We packed our days full and came back to the house where we could relax. The kitchen was stocked with every utensil and dish we needed. A grocery store was nearby so we cooked some meals. The internet was good, the fireplace nice, and everyone was comfortable. We did not use the fenced yard as we had dog sitters back home, but I would likely bring the dog next time. My car is an e-hybrid, so I was thrilled they provided an EV Charger. If we are ever in the area we'd love to stay again.
