"My family and I stayed at the cabin for 4 days during my daughter's winter break. It had everything we needed to manage the little ones, cook, relax, and have fun. There are many forest roads about 100 yards away for a morning hike. The local grocery was very close and convenient. The space is nice for a family with little ones. There was a creek running behind the cabin that the kids enjoyed walking down and there was a private lake with a playground that we got to explore."

"It's a quiet cabin in the forest. You can see the green trees all around you. Cabin has many windows so it feels airy, and every window gives you a view of the trees at different angles, and that's exactly what we were looking for. It's a quiet neighborhood, with the sounds (and occasional visit through the property) of turkeys. For us living in Bay Area, this nature retreat was a beautiful getaway."

"Property was very comfortable for the six of us. Enjoyed the outdoor space a lot. Home was clean and an easy walking distance to town. Would love a few more wine glasses and metal kitchen chairs not the most comfy. Also would like some cleaning supplies to clean kitchen table etc. Had a wonderful weekend and look forward to a return visit. Thanks to our hosts."

"The cottage is far back in the backyard of the main house. You don't even realize there is another home on the property except that you need to walk past it on the way in. Bed was comfy and the patio was nice. The kitchen had everything we needed. There is some poison oak sprouting up here and there in the yard/hedges so make sure to stay clear of it especially if you bring a dog. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the main street. The drive to the grocery was also about 5 minutes. We enjoyed...

"We had a great time staying in a nice (and very clean) home, with good separation for the two families involved, and great amenities (hot tub, dog run, etc). We enjoyed the views of the forest from the multiple decks, bbq-ing, and relaxing after hitting some AMAZING golf courses in the area!"

"Nice cabin in the woods. Clean with all the amenities we needed. Close to Pinecrest lake, where I got some fishing in. Great change from the Bay Area. Got to see the stars with no light pollution. We were serenaded by the coyotes one night. My wife and I were there over Memorial Day weekend and the neighborhood was nice and quiet. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay."

"My friends and I stayed 4 nights and we were all very comfortable as well as enjoyed our stay! Lots of space! Beds are comfortable. The whole place was spotless. We enjoyed the fire place and all the warm cozy blankets that were provided. Short walk to the grocery store and The Watering Hole…a fun brew house with excellent food. A bit longer of a walk to downtown although not undoable for those that like a nice walk. 20 minute drive to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. We very much enjoyed our...

"This was a return trip for us and it was as wonderful as the last time. They put in new furniture in the living area. While we were sitting on the patio, we saw a couple deer walking by and we also saw a turkey of all things. There were also some humming birds in the garden and we really liked watching them. This place has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, just need to bring some groceries. If you forget anything there is a SaveMart nearby in Sonora. The owners are really great...

"Winterfell is a gem! The host is kind and thoughtful. The room feels like a home away from home tucked in the woods. In hindsight we would have packed a picnic to sit at the table under the trees. Very comfortable and wonderful ✨"
