Built in 1905 as a grocery store, this historic home was a gathering place for islanders seeking refuge during the 1962 Ash Wednesday storm as mentioned in "Stormy: Misty's Foal" by Marguerite Henry. Today, it is a haven for your family to relax and rejuvenate by the ocean on Chincoteague island. Beautiful Sea Haven is a perfect place to continue your family's story. Enjoy the spacious living room, cozy bedrooms, updated kitchen and bathrooms and the bay view in a quiet neighborhood.
The view overlooking the Chincoteague Bay off the master bedroom's private deck is breathtaking at sunset.
For rentals starting in October 2024 - April 2024, the house rental comes with the use of our GEM E6 golf cart/LSV fully included in the price. (This does not apply to rentals in the months of July, August or September 2024.)
The living room, dining room, kitchen and all the bathrooms are well appointed, and have been recently renovated.
The Kincaid dining room set seats eight for family meals, board games and more.
The bedrooms are updated and very comfortable, retaining the charm of the original hardwood floors and original grocery store shelves. As a historic home, it does have some quirks, but you can’t beat the luxury of spacious and updated bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The home decor has been put together with a view of comfort, historical interest and functionality. We want the house to be able to tell its story, and we want you to have a delightful stay. The triple bunk was put together with a view towards children spending endless nights telling stories and jokes to each other. The master suite has a balcony that overlooks the Chincoteague Bay.
The porch boasts a futon for an extra sleeping space and an air hockey table for rainy days. There is a waterfront park twenty minute walk away with a swing to watch the sunset, let the dogs play, or put in your kayaks.
You will have access to the entire house and yard. There is a home owner's closet that is locked, but the rest of the house and yard is yours.
There are no beaches on the entire island of Chincoteague. The beach is on the Eastern shore of Assateague which is only two miles away and is a National Park. While there are few sidewalks, the speed limit is 25 and there are several roads to meander and explore. The northern neck of the island, where Sea Haven is located, is surrounded by salt water marshes and ponds.
