It's obvious that the hotel is under renovation, and it seems like improvements are being made. However, the piles of both new and used building materials and trash near the parking area are a detractant to the improvements that are being attempted. Additionally, the damaged stairways, flooring and wall board in the hallways, as well as the room doors that look like they have been broken into, create a very poor first impression of the place. While the room we stayed in had recently been remodeled and was comfortable and clean, we did not get a good night's rest due to a very bright floodlight on our balcony casting so much light into our room we couldn't tell if it was day or night outside. In addition to the light pollution making it difficult to sleep, at about 4 a.m. we were awoken by a large vehicle with a loud backup alarm and what sounded like construction crews hauling carts and equipment up and down the stairs. If the motel is going to be open during renovation, improvements to the image could be made by moving construction materials, trash and debris away from and out of view of customers as well as limiting the noise and light pollution during hours when people are trying to sleep.
