This place was amazingly beautiful! The swing in the backyard was super special. Lovely hosts, and Hannah the innkeeper was so sweet and kind. And, she was an amazing chef! You'll love breakfasts on the lanai!
Old style plantation house with a view, no TV, up a very steep hill. Afternoon snack time, lovely hostess, open lanai sitting area to hear the birds, large mango trees. Shared kitchen area and breakfast is included.
You might need to share bathroom with other people. This is not clearly presented in the booking process!
4x4 recommended given the steepness of the driveway.
The view was spectacular. The house was well taken care of. The rooms were nice. Plenty of seating spots inside & out. Host were awesome. Would definitely recommend to friends & family.

Disliked: Staff & service
Did not stay due to shortened layover. Called several times after booking to cancel but no one answered. We then decided to rent a car and drive to the property. Once we arrived (within 1hr of booking) we were met by a man who identified himself as the property manager. Asked for early check-in (even though we’d only be there for a short time) & we told “I don’t know why you would book when the check-in time is 3pm”. I explained that I tried calling several times to cancel (with no answer) and that we had a shortened layover & were just looking for a place to freshen up. The gentleman was very aggressive. So much so that we decided to just leave & contact Expedia to see what our options would be. He was very upset by this & stated “I already have the money and I won’t be issuing a refund UNLESS I am able to re-book the room to someone else”. Expedia tried contacting the property but to no avail. Days later, I received a follow-up email from Expedia stating again, they were unable to reach the property for a refund. I’m not at all upset about the money lost for the stay. I should’ve done a better job of looking at the check-in time. What upsets me is how I was treated by the property manager. Being aggressive & saying this like “I already have the money..” is not good business practice. That alone is what will prevent me from staying or recommending this place in the future. It costs nothing at all to just be kind!
What a magical experience! The property is meticulously maintained with the most caring staffs and generous breakfast. The feeling of tranquility relaxing on the lani is a moment to remember for life!
Tips: High clearance cars and daytime arrival recommended as the road up is steep&bumpy and the entrance is easily missed at night.
Quiet hour after 9pm as the rooms are not very soundproofed.
The outdoor shower is amazing. Slight clogging problem in the upstairs common bathroom.
This property is absolutely gorgeous. The team here is so friendly. We arrived early and we were welcomed in and offered to sit on the lanai and have some mango juice while we waited to be able to check in. From the view to the laid back vibe of this beautiful plantation everything is magical. The driveway is intimidating at first but after you do it once there is no problem. We booked this last minute due to needing to extend our trip an extra day and we wish we would have stayed here the entire time.
Hannah and the team at Ka’awaloa Plantation Bed and Breakfast have thought of everything for the comfort of their guests. We will most certainly be back to this gem.
