On reading the reviews, we assumed this would be a pretty nice place to stay. But upon arrival the odor of mildew was overwhelming. I emailed evolve saying I didn’t think we could stay all four nights, but they never responded. After a day or so the smell was a little better. Probably because we had the air conditioner going, drawing some of the moisture out. But everything felt damp, even the pillows and sheets.
The bed was awful. It’s sunk in so badly that it was a struggle to roll over or crawl out. I tried the other beds but they were hard as rocks.
The only TV was maybe 20 inches. We had to move the couch up 6 feet to be able to see it. Everything was just terribly outdated.
Call it vintage if you want, but it seemed more like old stuff that no one wanted anymore.
It says it’s located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway but that was at least a 20 to 30 minute drive away. And speaking of drives, it’s not a very nice ride in. Lots of trailers with their entire property filled with junk cars.
Really the only thing I can say nice about this place is the creek was charming. The first night it stormed and between that and the babbling creek, it was really serene.
I just don’t understand the positive reviews.
And as much as I dislike leaving this negative review, I think it’s only fair for other people to know so they don’t spend that type of money and end up dissatisfied.
Oh yeah, beware of the host fee. That almost doubled the nightly rate.
