Upon arrival we were to meet our hostess between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM at the house. We were there, parking in a questionable spot, and the hostess never showed up. The key was there to let us in, but we were unable to lock the doors, turn on the heat, run the washing machine and confirm the correct parking place. At 5:30 PM we realized we must find a place to stay for the night, as we did not feel comfortable to stay in an unlocked apartment. As this was our first visit to the area, we were challenged to find a place before dark. We stayed at a hotel in St. Malo that cost about $150. Who will reimburse that??
Our hostess met us the morning of the second day we were to stay at the house. She explained the locks, the washing machine and answered other questions, although she was not happy with us having these questions. But, as we had paid in full prior to our arrival, we stayed the week. The house was dark, cold and the backyard was overgrown and unkempt. The outdoor grill was filthy. On the last day our hostess met us at the house, and calculated a bill for us to pay for utilities. We did not expect any additional costs, especially considering our hotel and dinner expenses for our first night. She waived the 17 euro charged when my husband asked about reimbursement for our hotel stay. All in all, a big disappointment.
