Relax in Nature on the Cane River - Western North Carolina - Fishing & Swimming

Treehouse on the Cane River reminds us of a treehouse.

The Treehouse is located in Burnsville NC , just short drive (45 min) from Asheville, it is a special place for both families and couples to visit.

Watch the river while dining and enjoy the cows grazing in the meadows across river.

This home has 3 sleeping areas - 3 full bedrooms amazing property central to many top activities including: The Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell, Linville Falls and the City of Asheville. Sleeps up to 5 comfortably.

Waterfront property and fun hiking trails right on our property. * NO FISHING MONTH OF MARCH. Stocked by State.

Stay at the cabin or spend your day enjoying the outdoors hiking, swimming, fishing, biking.

Watch the river while dining and enjoy the cows grazing in the meadows across river.
This extremely unique 3 bedroom 2 bath home directly on the river has everything you could ask for when visiting the Black Mountains of North Carolina. The long gravel driveway meanders through the forest running parallel to the Cane River passing by an old cattle barn and soon submerges you in a thick canopy of old growth Rhododendron.

Spring time here is unbelievably beautiful with an abundance of wild flowers which cover the land like a carpet. You can expect to see Wild Iris, Lady Slippers, Showy Orchids, Trillium of all colors, Jack in the Pulpit, May Apples, Ferns of all varieties and much more. There is a large wrap around deck with views of the river, forest and old growth rhododendron with a gas grill and outdoor furniture for outside dinning.

The living room has large windows facing the river and a brick hearth wood burning fireplace. ( At times there is fire-wood left from previous guest) You can pick up bundles of fire-wood at local convenience store or Walmart.

Don't forget to bring your fishing equipment for this river has an abundance of trout. Take your days catch to the large outside fire pit. A perfect setting for outside dining would be a hot dog cookout followed by a roasted marshmallows for desert.

We look forward to seeing you at the Treehouse.

* Thank you for supplying your own tubes.

* Driveway is gravel and mostly flat but some curves about 1/2 mile long
* There are steps going up to enter the home as well as get to the loft/master area
*Cell phone in the mountains area can be spotty. Cell phone works best at the Treehouse on Wi-Fi calling as well as the land-line provided.

Great escape!
Great escape away from everyday life. Lots of things to see and do within an hour drive but also plenty of privacy to just hide out in the woods.

Wonderful!
We had an wonderful stay at this charming cabin. The wood-burning fireplace and down comforters added a cozy touch, making it a perfect retreat. The well-stocked kitchen and overall cleanliness made the experience even more enjoyable. The hosts were fabulous—friendly and accommodating. The directions to the property were spot-on, and Burnsville, with its quaint town, new brewery, restaurants, and antique shops, provided a delightful backdrop. I look forward to returning with my family for river activities and fishing this summer.

Worst experience ever
Upon arrival FOUND HOME HAD A VERY STRONG MOLDY SMELL. WASN'T TOLD GRAVEL ROAD WAS A mile and a half. The cabin is at the end of road with no place to turn around. PLACE HAD NO CELL SERVICE AT ALL. HOME HAS A SHARED ROAD WITH ANOTHER HOME WHICH HAS NO DRIVEWAY SO PARKING IN THE ROAD WOULD BLOCK US IN. And there is no lights on the road. That was not included in the information which would of been important . I called the owner who acted indifferent towards us when we called. The wood railings to the water looked old and worn and the outside around the house looked like it wasnt kept up. The ping pong table / game room was musty and all the ping pong balls smashed. Definitely would not recommend. We left. Very disappointing

Hidden gem
The property is undersold on the listing! It it very nicely furnished and the location is amazing! While getting to the property seemed a little sketchy late at night on our arrival (driving closely by the two houses/cabins and old barn) it was well worth the adventure! The property is very well kept and very private! The river was easily accessible and the cabin has a beautiful view of the pasture with large rolling hills. The cabin was more than spacious enough for 4 adults and a 5 year old. We would definitely visit again!

Just what we needed!
We were looking for a place to have a true "relaxation vacation". No agenda, no plans to do any specific things on specific days. Just rest and feed our souls with peace and tranquility. We found exactly that with the "Treehouse on the Cane". The house is at the end of a long wooded lane, in a nice secluded spot. We enjoyed multiple walks down the lane and back each day. It's so beautiful. The house is as described and pictured in the listing. The decor is tastefully neutral and comfortable. There were some nice wildflowers that added a pleasant touch. The morning quiet time was perfect for sitting with my coffee, reading one of their coffee table books, "Old Dogs", while our own old dog was snoozing at my feet. We spent so much time on the deck, listening to the river. We also enjoyed having a fire in the fireplace, sipping wine, listening to music, or playing backgammon. A couple of notes... First of all, for those who may miss it in the listing (like I did), the whirlpool in the master bath tub does not work. That's on me for not seeing it. But the bath is still enjoyable for having a nice long, hot soak. Second, when going upstairs, either wear house shoes or be barefoot. The painted stairs are a little slippery if you're just wearing socks. The owners were quick to respond to any questions I had. When we got home, we found a nice "Thank you" card from them in our mailbox. :) Overall, we love this place and we will definitely be back!

Felt like home!
Wow. When I say it felt like home - I do mean it. You could feel the love of the property in the house. Anything you thought you might need was intuitively in its spot. They thought of everything. Trees and river so beautiful and peaceful. We caught a few little trout even! Something worth mentioning-which honestly didn’t bother me at all- but some in the group wanted to point out that there is a road on other side of river. Not very much traffic - but can hear the big trucks that go by on occasion. But the sounds of the River were the prominent sounds and the winds flowing through the leaves of the trees. Would love to see this property in all its seasons. Thank you for sharing your home with all of us!!!

Great secluded property
The house is pretty close to the river, so there’s not much yard. The kids loved tubing down the Cain River, but it was a bit shallow for adults. We tried trout fishing. We did catch a couple larger trout, but the majority were pretty small. The house itself is pretty old and creaky, but it’s been well maintained and updated. There’s zero cell phone coverage around the property, so the internet is crucial if you want to stay connected. Overall is was a great time with the family. We reconnected and spent a ton of time together, which was the purpose of the trip.

Anniversary Trip
The Tree-house on Cane River is surrounded by natural beauty in all directions. The location right next to the river is peaceful and relaxing and the remote location down the private drive makes this an ideal spot to rest and recharge from the hectic work life. We stayed here for an anniversary trip and it was a perfect spot to get away from it all. Will definitely be back.

Solitude serenity on the Cane
We arrived and were immediately impressed by the pastoral setting and mountain-like surroundings, complete with rhododendron, mountain orchids, trillium and other vegetation. We could open the sliding doors of the house and listen to the river sounds. Plus, we found a way to get to the river that offered easy access. The fire wood that was available made our evening fires very manageable. There are a lot of stairs. So, these were a challenge for some in our party, and we had to watch our step on the deck because of the way it sloped. The beds were comfortable; the whirlpool tub was great! The kitchen had all the necessary equipment and additional appliances that would make any chef happy! The property managers were very helpful and offered good options for places to eat. We enjoyed our stay and had a great time!

A gem on the Cane!
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. The home is very clean, comfortable, well appointed and offers great views of the Cane. The town of Burnsville is close and a must see. We hiked everyday nearby (beautiful falls within 30-40 minutes of the home) and enjoyed all the area had to offer. The home has everything you’d need for a quiet time with nature while still having access to shopping, restaurants and exploring!

Beautiful, clean property
When we arrived the cabin was very very clean. The view out the windows overlooking the stream down the hill was gorgeous. If you enjoy getting away from the city and going to a secluded getaway this is the place The beds were comfortable . Our golden retriever played in the water, she didn’t want to leave. The house had anything you could need. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone Only thing I will say is if you walk down the stairs in socks, be careful when you get to the bottom, it’s easy to slide

This is a perfect spot to get away from the noise and chaos of life and still only 15 minutes to nice grocery, brewery and food options. The house has everything we needed. We brought our 2 dogs and they were also happy playing in the woods and river. This house may not be appropriate for someone with mobility issues as there are many stairs that get slippery when wet.
