My recent stay at Hyatt Place Blacksburg was disappointing in several aspects. The property has challenges with parking availability, which created an inconvenience during my visit.
The in-room entertainment options were limited by outdated television systems that don't support modern streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, unlike what many travelers now expect from hotel accommodations.
The most frustrating aspect was the breakfast experience. Despite being told at check-in that breakfast would be served until 9:30 AM, staff had already begun clearing food when we arrived at 9:07 AM. Even after reminding them of the posted hours, they continued removing items and discarding food in front of guests. When I raised this issue with management, I received only a perfunctory apology with no solution, leaving us without a proper breakfast before a long drive.
While the location near the university might be convenient, the combination of parking difficulties, outdated amenities, and particularly the staff's inflexible approach to guest service would make me hesitant to recommend this property. A hotel that prioritizes adherence to stated service hours and shows more empathy for guest needs would be preferable for future visits to the area.
