This is a pleasant, equipped cabin offering easy access to Bar Harbor and much of Acadia, sitting right off the beaten path.
Breakfast at the nearby Otter Creek market is a great touch, and helped kick us out of bed in the morning after long days of hiking.
Dawn was a sweetheart and provided us some great local recommendations - McKay's was fantastic!
The lack of ocean view is more than compensated for by its central location - you're a ~10 minute drive straight down Rte 3 to central Bar Harbor's shops and restaurants, ~10 minutes from Park Loop road, ~20 minutes from Cadillac Mountain.
Southwest Harbor was a bit of a road trip, but was definitely worth it. If you're not dependent on the island bus service, Thurston's Lobster Pound is a must-visit. If you are, be prepared to kick rocks around Bernard for a while as you wait for your return bus.
We didn't do any cooking in the cabin, but it had everything necessary if we wanted to during a longer stay.
The area doesn't have great cell phone service - neither of us (Sprint & T-Mobile) had cell service around the cabin area. This is common for much of Acadia. While we had great WiFi once inside the cabin, this meant we struggled to find it for a bit on the evening we arrived.
Try to arrive during the day so you can stop in the Otter Creek Market for check-in. If you're in late, park at the Otter Creek Inn (adjacent). The cabins are across the parking lot on the same side of the road.
