Affordable, Practical, Some Charm
The overall experience was good for the price.
We were dismayed at first to see that the house was both very small, and on a mixed-use street with plenty of dark alleys for shady characters to lurk. It reminded me of where I lived in college; affordable, cute-- but don't want to jog after dark. No sidewalks, dirt lots.
After five days we had no problems, though we definitely locked the deadbolt before bed and heard plenty of sirens roaring through the streets nearby overnight.
On the bright side, the owners have done a lovely job of decorating the interior and making a good use of space. The decor is trendy, but also comfortable and homey, and the showers and beds comfortable. But the tiny size doesn't allow for either a dresser or a kitchen table. One of the bedrooms had only a small closet to store all your clothes offering literally no place to store your non-hangable items like pajamas and socks. The children got used to eating dinner with a plate balanced on their knees in front of the tv; not something we do too often but I guess it worked fine for the week.
This stay is ideal for YUP's, couples without children, or a sorority get-away. Who will not be comfortable here: big and tall men who need lots of space and big beds; families with school-aged children, the elderly (steep cement porch steps, "speed bump" door jamb leading into bathroom made us trip several times; creaky wood floors).
For us it worked fine, and we are thankful for the stay!
