"Kato Dool is beautiful place to stay in the Nubian village of Aswan. It is peaceful with a gorgeous view of the Nile Cataract/Desert and has well designed rooms in colorful Nubian style. The staff is very friendly and effective at what they do. The only consideration (good and bad, both) is that it is cut-off from everything else with a dusty and bumpy road (as of our visit) of over 10mins. from the busy parts of the Nubian village. For those who are not driving, like us, the hotel provides a tuk tuk transportation to and from from the main village. However, for the price of the rooms in the hotel, I hope the management provides a covered geep for this purpose as the tuk tuk is fun only once or twice. Overall, it is highly recommended for the views and authentic experience of staying in Nubian village with good amenities, especially if one is driving."

"We booked the property for the 1-bedroom suite with the Nile view. We were going to be in Aswan during the high, high season between Christmas and New Year. I normally usually stay in chain hotels (for example we stayed at the Hilton in Luxor) because I want a consistent and reliable product. But during high season, the price for Aswan’s Old Cataract hotel was an eye-watering $1200/night and Mövenpick in Elephantine island was $600/night which was more than I wanted to pay so I had to consider other options and decided to book Nile Obelisk’s 1-bedroom suite with Nile view. It turned out to be the best decision. Well-priced and arguably the best room in the Easy Bank. The room is renovated and very well-appointed. The Nile views overlooking Elephantine island are gorgeous. I booked this hotel not having high expectations but it was a sleeper hit. If you can pay a little more for the 1-bedroom suite with a balcony and Nile views (limited availability), you won’t regret it. "

"I cannot imagine a more spectacular view of the Temple of Phillae and the beautiful authenticity of the Eco Nubia Ecolodge. We stayed as a family in a double and a quadruple. We all loved the feel of the Ecolodge and the staff was kind, and so very effective. We pre-ordered dinner and it was delicious! We loved the tagine and other options. It was magical to take the boat to the Ecolodge, and then they made arrangements for our 4:30am departure with a porter who lugged down 10 suitcases and put them in the boat. Not only was the porter prompt, but he lugged our stuff down the hill with a smile. As we made our way down to the boat, a gentleman gave us each a breakfast box!!! And off we went, as the sun rose, under a full moon to our waiting taxi! All taken care of!! I do think it is important though, the if you have any challenges with walking up unsteady stairs, without railing, you would do better looking to stay in a more traditional setting. "
