I am a frequent guest of different properties in the Minor portfolio, and have enjoyed staying at Anantara properties in the past.
This was an unexpectedly disappointing stay.
The staff were fine but not of the usual Anantara standard. People were generally unwilling to help unless a task was their specific responsibility (e.g., receptionists would tell me to ask someone else if I needed something, guest services would tell me to call X, y, or z extension instead of just connecting me, etc.). The receptionist at check in told me breakfast ran till noon every day and when i showed up for breakfast around 11.15 the next morning, i was told the service ended at 11.
My biggest issue was the property itself. Although central, there's not much else to recommend it. Importantly, rooms are advertised as soundproofed and this was absolutely not the case. I could hear the person in the other room coughing, talking on the phone, watching videos, and using the toilet. I am a light sleeper and soundproofed rooms are a major consideration when booking hotels. This really spoiled the experience for me.
The room also had weird mechanical sounds every day -- i was in the last rooftop terrace room in the annex and was right next to some sort of mechanical room. Weird place to stick a frequent flyer.
Book your next stay elsewhere -- I wanted to try something new with a brand that I trusted. What a mistake!
