"Rooms were larger than normal for Japan. Right next to the train station. Drug Store open late next door. Large shopping mall across the street with a supermarket open 10a to 8p. For the breakfast , dont get there at the stop time as everything is put away. Very few selections and all things that were supposed to be hot were cold. Very low rating for breakfast."

"This property was absolutely epic. Extremely fast communication, gorgeous house and delicious dinner coordinated during a time when most things are shut. Mari and her team were so great. We regretted we didn't have more than one night to enjoy this picturesque village and perfect house. It surpassed all expectations. "The ryokan was absolutely wonderful. It was authentic Japan culture and style in an a breathtaking location. The food was an elaborate 11 coarse meal that was delicious Japanese cuisine. The whole stay was a a glimpse of Japanese culture and tradition. I highly recommend for the cultural tourist."

An amazing short break

"A very beautiful place with very gracious hosts. Hideo san and his lovely wife Yukako san were friendly. It was my girl's birthday and Hideo san orered a cake from his friend on our behalf- one of the best i ever. We all slept very well. Must be the fresh air and the quiet surroundings. "

"In Japan for a month. This was by far the best place I stayed. Staff was amazing. Food is great. Rooms are clean and spacious. And the onsen is relaxing and peaceful. Great Japanese ryokan experience. The staff was so friendly and nice. Felt like I was staying at a friend’s house—except it didn’t have to help with chores."

"If you are looking for a remote lake get away in northern Otsu this is ideal. This location suits the out door adventure types who want to be away from Otsu city. The lake was an amazing place to swim. What also would be a Great Lake side party atmosphere and relaxation with a group of friends. Amazing cleanliness despite the overall facility being quite old. However rooms and common room air conditioned which was a life saver in the hight of a Japanese summer. The Hostel is not located near any shops and not close to the train station so be prepared to do some serious walking or better rent a bike whilst you are there."

Gave attention to all the small details

"The level of attention of their customer service by the staff to me and my girlfriend was amazing and in a way, heart warming. For example, they knew we liked to face the garden while eating so they setup the table that way. Another example is, they knew I loved boiled eggs so instead of asking every morning they prepared it for me. These little small attention to details and the kindness of the staff, the wonderful food, the beautiful scenery and amazing onsen made my trip unforgettable. "
