"I like the antique atmosphere probably because it's an old hotel. Room I rented was clean. Only problem I had there was the wifi, but that's not an issue for me since I can just use my data to access the internet. The closest station is like a 14-minute walk from the hotel which is fine. Overall, I would still recommend it if you are into old hotels."

"We got to stay here for the night of news years eve and enjoyed a vegetarian dinner. My husband cannot eat any wheat or gluten so the monks made sure he had a special vegetable dish with no soy sauce. The rooms were at first cold but with the heaters warmed up nicely. The hot baths were nice. We enjoyed walking the town and seeing the various shrines and temples and large cemetery too. The huge cypress trees were amazing. And the cemetery was lit at night too. We walked around in the evening and...

"The interior was very homelike and organized. Everything was very clean and the owner was quite nice. The train station and several convenience stores are also just 5 minutes walks away."

"It’s worth noting that this is not a normal hotel but a traditional pilgrim’s lodging, so it is expected that you sleep on a mat on the floor and the facilities are relatively basic. You are staying here for the experience. The property was clean with onsen (hot bath) provided and our room had its own toilet/sink. Our only complaint is that they no longer serve food and we were not notified of this despite this being part of our booking, however we found a restaurant for dinner walking distance...

"The Yamabe allows for a cheap stay at close location of Tenri JR and Kintetsu stations. The proximity of the railway may bother the ones who want a quiet stay, as the train service runs from 5 am to 11 pm. Nonetheless, the hotel staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and have all is needed. For information, toilet and washing facilities are not comprised in the rooms. Although it did not pose me any problem, this may bother some. "

"The hotel is pas its prime and needs either a major renovation or a sunset. Too many things are falling apart or feel abandoned."
