You don’t need to bring a lot with you because they provide extremely comfortable clothes, slippers, and even socks while you’re on the property. Same with toiletries. They have everything you could possibly need. Excursions are wonderful but not necessary if you’re going there to relax. The food is beautiful and nutritious. There are limited snacks and drinks...

"Buffet was excellent with an enormous array of food. Private onsen was approx ¥3300 for 45minutes. There is quite a lot to do around the local area, we stayed one night but easily could have filled in two days."

"Feels very upmarket from the entrance all the way to the room. The Japanese room I stayed in felt extremely large; like a 5-star hotel in Tokyo. The washbasin area looks modern and is well equipped with amenities, including a face steamer. Separate toilet is large. Bathtub is deep for a good soak with a nice view of the outside. Parking is limited in front so you need to drive further in or up the slope. May be inconvenient if you are alone with heavy luggage and arriving late. Some of the...

"Charming ryokan. Onsen on top floor has separate bathing for men and women, lovely way to begin and end the day. The rooms come with half board, so a very special dinner and breakfast filled with Japanese delicacies. Location is convenient, it’s about a 15 minute walk from the tobu Nikko station but you can take the number 1 bus that leaves you a block or so away. Quite convenient to the attractions. Lovely mountainous view with brook from the window."

"Very friendly staff, great buffet breakfast (I still can’t believe the amount of choices and quality … such a great way to start the day). Double bed was big enough for me and my 12 year old. 5 min walk from train station and we had a view of the Sakura River. I am sure it would be beautiful in Spring! Spring cleaning staff were having lunch in the same dining hall where we have breakfast which is a lovely to see that management treat their staff as well as their guests. "
