“My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was perfect. The views from the lanai are EVEN BETTER than the pictures. Seriously, you can’t find views like that anywhere else on the Big Island. The VRBO was excellent, cozy with everything you could possibly need. Especially appreciated the little touches such as a fully stocked kitchen to cook to your heart’s content, a cooler we could use while exploring the island, coffee and tea, and fresh baked goods upon arrival. “I really enjoyed staying at this house. I was plenty big for my family of 6 and we enjoyed the lush foliage and koi pond. We also loved the small town of Honomu, which we walked to every morning. My only complaint was the cleanliness. The dining room table setting was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been touched in a month. Also there was animal poop all over inside the house. I thought at first it was rodents, but eventually realized (I think) it was from geckos.”

“We did enjoy our stay with some minor improvements needed. Number one impressive kitchen from photos but oven and cooktop were difficult to operate. We never did get either ovens to work. Poorly out fitted no vegetable peeler or box grater. Blender was broken and three chipped wine glasses only. This was rectified within 24 hours. No plastic ware for outdoor pool area. BBQ only had one propane tank with no spare to be found. Given the distance back to Hilo and the fact that ovens didn’t work……

“This was an incredible place to stay. The views from the property are absolutely phenomenal. The photos online do not do it justice. The proximity to the Hilo Airport was also convenient. Our unit had everything that we needed and was very clean. Chad and Jennifer were also great hosts. Hoping that we can come back and stay here again at some point. ”

“Gorgeous property that is so relaxing and close to lots of great things to see. I cannot express how very relaxing it was to stay there. Of your looking for quiet and peaceful this is the place. The cabin was stocked with several condiments and all the dishes you need to cook. The laundry area had detergent and dryer sheet for free to use. The showers have everything you need. “I was super excited to stay at this property. The pluses...the Koy pond. The fish are amazing and love to eat. Also, the sounds at night from nature. Would have been nice to have a lounger in the sun room rather than just chairs. Not many other pluses. We tried to get connected to Internet. The welcome book didn't seem to match the house. The descriptions were off. There were at least 5 remotes but none of them did anything. Only one turned off and on the TV. TV was activated through Roku.……

“My family and I visit the island on a regular basis and typically stay in another location. We are so happy to have found this place. From the start, Russ was awesome. He was very responsive before, during and then after our stay. His condo is absolutely amazing. We fell asleep each night to the sound of the waves crashing just outside our beautiful unobstructed wall of windows. It was a great place for our family of four! “we met the owners on our arrival and found them to be extremely involved and wonderful hosts, our stay was also wonderful but we did have a few hic-ups , it. seems the company in charge of supply and care of the unit was being changed so we did not receive proper responses to our requests. after we found out who the new manager was (John) he took care of everything, Thank you again John. we highly recommend a stay at the Treehouse at Hakalau. we will return.”
