“Quiet ”

“We took a last minute trip to N East Tennessee. Looked at Hotels.com for somewhere to stay. Didn’t want to stay at the local chains. Damascus Old Mill Inn came very highly recommended by the reviews and rating. This hotel did not disappoint! It is comfortable, clean, has all the amenities you need and was beautifully situated on the creek with flowing water. We were upgraded to a creek front room. The check in staff walked us to our room, made sure we had what we needed before leaving. And in……

“It is a very convenient location. Across the street is the Grocery store with gasoline and the pizza/sandwich shop. Later, we did walk 250 yards to the brewery. Small parking area for a large p/u truck. Biggest drawback is that it is only 15 feet from the main road going through Damascus, which tends to be busy and noisy. And no front or back usable porch..”

“We only needed to stay one night but wished we could have stayed longer because we enjoyed it so much. Very peaceful and has a country home feeling to it. The cat, donkeys, sheep’s, and a dog that likes to play fetch was an added on bonus. We will be staying there again if we come up that way again.”

The next morning we awoke to a rising creek and hurricane Helene’s wrath. We lost power, trees were falling around us and the water continued to rise. We were amazed and moved that the host came to the property to see how we were doing. By noon it was apparent that the town of Damascus and the home we were in was in serious danger of being……
