“Your neighbors will be songbirds and a mountain stream…” This is how the village of Warm Springs was advertised in the early 1900’s. Step back in time with a stay at The Kitchen Cottage at Anderson Cottage…where guests have been welcomed since the 1790’s.
The Kitchen Cottage is a former brick kitchen, separated from the main house and later converted and renovated into a comfortable living space with all the modern conveniences. The cottage is available year-round and includes three bedrooms with four beds (one king, one queen and two twins), a full kitchen with eat-in dining area, a gas stove fireplace, and a living room with windows on three sides overlooking the spacious yard and Warm Springs Run, a thermal spring that flows from the historic Warm Springs Pools.
The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a full bath with a tub and shower. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms – one with a king-sized bed that overlooks the stream and the other with two twin beds. The newly renovated lower-level bath has a shower and clawfoot tub. Guests have use of the laundry facilities as well.
The home is served by fiber WiFi internet and a SMART TV so you can stream all your favorite programming. Guests will love the spacious grounds where you can wade or soak in the warm waters of the stream, light a campfire in the evening to roast marshmallows, relax in a hammock and read a good book or a well-deserved nap. When you are ready to venture out, just a short walk away you’ll find The Waterwheel Restaurant for a delicious meal and a cocktail at the Simon Kenton Pub, The Warm Spirit Spa for one of the best hot stone massages you’ll ever have, The Warm Springs Gallery and Café featuring world-class artists, unique gifts and fresh local food, The Bath County Historical Society Museum and Oakley Farm, home to Troddenvale Cider and their weekly not to be missed event – Foodlore Fridays. Less than a mile away are the Warm Springs Pools where the water bubbles up from the ground at 98 degrees, known for its healing qualities. And just across the road is The Inn at Warm Springs offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as Sunday Brunch and Coffee Shop.
The Anderson Cottage, currently operated for more than 30 years as a Bed & Breakfast, has been owned by the same family for generations and has been a tavern, a girls’ school and a summer inn dating back to the 1700’s. It has The Kitchen Cottage’s brick construction suggests it was not built until the 1820’s or later. A wide passageway connected it to the main house, providing space for food preparation, washing dishes, cleaning and refilling kerosene lamps and other chores. In the 1990’s the old kitchen was remodeled into a separate dwelling. Guests will be rejuvenated by the quiet setting, the peaceful sounds and healing waters of the stream tumbling by, and the charming village atmosphere.
