“A friend and I stayed here for a week on a birding trip to Costa Rica. We found most aspects of AOL to be good, but we really disliked our restaurant experience. I have food allergies and gave the staff a translated card explaining what I can and cannot eat. This approach worked well in every other place we stayed, but not at AOL. I was provided with a meal that I was told the next night was not appropriate for my diet. So why did they give me that meal the first night? The exact same thing……

“The property was everything you could have hoped for in a Costa Rican jungle. The pools were great! The drinks at the pool bar were amazing. I highly recommend the Tamarindo Margharita. One of the highlights was the Night Guided Walk. Our guide on April 6th was fantastic. He was so excited and knowledgable. He was the best!”

“The view is absolutely amazing and we loved the little secluded bungalow. The owners are so friendly and informative. The breakfast is amazing, it’s a 4 course meal and different each day. You start with a parfait, then a specialty pancake, the main course is eggs and a specialty side (empanadas, etc.) and then juice, definitely fills you up for an adventurous hike. I would definitely recommend this place. Almost forgot you have a special wake up call from the howler monkeys around 5:15……

“Hotel Claro de Luna was a lovely place to stay to be close to the cloud forest reserves. Walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Santa Elena. Beautiful Spanish style units with private patios. The staff are immediately responsive to any needs or questions. Extensive complementary breakfast buffet and my favourite thing... the 24 hour coffee station! Highly recommend! ”
