First of all, I have to say this is not the Taj Mahal, but it is not supposed to be. This is an "upscale" fishing rental. Normally I consider a fishing camp a place for a bunch of guys drinking beer and cleaning fish. That is not that. The building has been divided into two apartments on the first floor. One has three bedrooms and the other has two. The one with three bedrooms is a duplicate of the other but the living room has been converted to a bedroom. It also has two bathrooms, you do have to go through the very, very small kitchen to get to it but, hey, it's a fishing camp! What makes this a four star is: #1.The location, directly on the Kenai River, #2. The owners Maurice and Sara Bloom. What a lovely couple, Maurice is the personable front guy that you will adore. His wife, Sara, runs around like a cute, lovable butterfly who works 20 hours a day doing things for everyone else, from making her wonderful spring rolls to baking blueberry pies. She plants the flowers, she makes sure you have everything you need, she gives you hugs, she makes you want to come back again and again. To Maurice and Sara, thank you for a wonderful stay at the Kenai River Hideaway.
