Enjoy nature & vibrant fall foliage at the newly renovated 'The Original Bungalow' with décor inspired by our native Sweden. Take a stroll to a nearby lake, waterfall, or hiking trails, or use our canoe or SUPs to explore the waters. Visit Bethel Woods Center for the Arts & Woodstock site, an apple orchard, fall festival, art museum, alpaca farm, brewery, or charming towns with excellent shopping & dining. In the evening, fire up the BBQ & unwind on the deck, by the fire pit or cozy fireplace.
I live in Brooklyn, NY, but I am available via messaging or by phone. I also have a local property manager who can help if needed.
We love Smallwood - a friendly and quiet lake community with many cute little log cabins from the 1930s and 40s. We have a lake, waterfall, forest reserve with hiking trails, outdoor gym, post office, and restaurant (open seasonally) within walking distance from the bungalow.
This area of the Catskills offers every outdoor activity imaginable including swimming, hiking, canoeing, boating, tubing, rafting, fishing, cycling, ziplining, horseback riding, bird watching, apple picking, snowtubing, skiing and snowboarding.
The cabin is only a short drive from Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the Museum at Bethel Woods, the original Woodstock site, buzzy design haven Livingston Manor, Resorts World Catskills, Holiday Mountain (skiing/tubing and 'fun park' with rock climbing, go carts, etc.), Legoland, Lake Superior State Park, the Catskills Craft Beverage Trail, great restaurants, cute shops and antique stores, harvest festivals, holiday markets, farms (kids usually love the alpacas!), farmers markets, New York State's largest indoor waterpark Kartrite, Forestburgh Playhouse, Kadampa Meditation Center New York, Monticello Casino and Raceway, Monticello Motor Club Off-Road Adventure, as well as picturesque river towns Narrowsburg and Callicoon.
You can check in and out by yourself with our keyless entry. You will be issued an access code for the duration of your stay - no keys to lose or return.
The easiest way to reach Mountain Lake Bungalow is by car, but it is possible to go via public transit from the NYC area as well. Take a bus to Monticello, NY, and then a car service or rental from there - it's about a 15-minute ride/drive.
