I was advised at check in that I was staying for 2 nights when I had only booked one. I had to provide a copy of my email confirmation that I had only booked one night. It then became apparent that the receptionist was trying to book me in under someone else's reservation (I had given her my full name when I checked in).
The room I was allocated, upon first inspection was nice. However after a couple of minutes I noticed it was full of flies (some dead / some alive). They were on the lampshade, bedding, carpet, walls etc. I asked to change rooms which they did after initially advising me that they were full. I then moved to a suite (Queen Anne) which was filthy. There were stains on the wall both in the room and the bathroom, hairs in the sinks and bath, cobwebs in the shower and dust on the unit tops. There is wooden flooring in the room and when you are in the bathroom you can see under the bed which was covered in lumps of dust and decomposing rose petals. This had not been cleaned in a very long time.
The only positive is that the grounds are beautiful, the breakfast was delicious and the lady that was working in the restaurant at breakfast was very lovely and polite.
This hotel is in need of some upgrading as everything is looking tired. I will not be returning.
