Our house is from 1997 and renovated in 2017. The house has the capacity to house 6 people, it has three bedrooms with double beds, the smallest bed is 160 cm / 62.99 inches. The kitchen is of newer date with all the essential utilities, and the cozy living room has a wood-burning stove to keep everyone warm on the colder evenings. The house has air-to-air heating/cooling. Additionally, there are two terraces with access from the living room to both of them. There is one covered terrace (15 m2 in total), so you can still enjoy the garden on more clouded or rainy days.
The garden has facilities for children as well as adults: a play stand, a camp fire and a hammock. It’s a 10-minute walk to Vellerup Bay and Ise Fjord (Isefjorden; a deeply breaded arm of the sea into Zealand). Because of the calm waters in Vellrup Bay and Ise Fjord, they are ideal for paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing, and moreover, for swimming as there is a bathing bridge. The idyllic and beautiful fjord path (fjordstien) spans 275 km (170,87 miles) is ideal for hiking and going on a ride on a mountain bike. The smaller roads are perfect for the cycle enthusiasts. If you are a golf enthusiast then there is a golf field in Frederikssund only 14 km north.
Experience the local church, Vellerup Kirke, which is one of the few churches built with boulders. You can also experience the inside of a tumulus (burial mound) located at the end of Sandvejen (road made of sand, by one of the roads entering the village). The beautiful Egholm Castle has a war museum and if you drive to the town, Jægerspris you will find a castle museum and Countess Danners burial ground (spouse of King Frederik VII, ballet dancer and actor). Furthermore, you will find Denmarks oldest and one of the best ice cream stand, “Poulsens ishus”. There are bus routes from Kirke Hyllinge to Roskilde, where you can explore Roskilde Cathedral and the Viking museum. You can also make a day trip to lovely Copenhagen with the bus from Kirke Hylling and train from Roskilde to Copenhagen, which takes approximately 1 hour. There is free parking in central Kirke Hyllinge.
