I typically do not write reviews yet want to offer an honest one to prevent anyone else from disappointment. I’ll start with the few positives. Venice beach is a short, easy drive down the road. Downtown Venice is also a short drive away. Location is convenient. The pool appeared well maintained and was quiet. The place gets the job done for a reasonable price for a weekend getaway. Now for the negatives. I booked this place for my husband’s birthday weekend. Skimming through the reviews it appeared to be a quaint place to have a beach weekend without breaking the bank. We were deceived. The ceiling in the hotel room was falling apart. The furniture was broken and worn. The screens in the bathroom window were torn. The walls, doors, and trim were badly stained with dirt and who knows what else. I imagine the linens were once white.. they appeared old, worn, and discolored. At night, I did not feel safe. While at the pool with my husband, an employee approached us while FaceTiming family in India. He asked how our day was and if the temperature of the pool was ok. He then asked me to say hello to his family and angled his phone in a way to show my full body in swimwear to the men on the phone. It was uncomfortable and highly unprofessional. We will not return to this property. I hope this review is insightful. I encourage you to spend an extra $200 for a safe and clean place. This place could truly be a gem if management took pride in their establishment.

This hotel was less than a mile from the beach. It was older, but well kept and clean. The bathrooms were updated. The staff was friendly and accommodating with extra towels when we needed them. We enjoyed our stay.

Pool was ok. The floor and bathroom had been replaced after a flood. The entry door showed someone had broken in to the place and the frame of the door had been shattered. The manager would not fix the problem. We put chairs behind the door for safety.

I booked the room through Expedia, then once I arrived I was told there was an additional deposit of $100 needed to stay. I was caught extremely off guard since there was not any previous mention of the additional deposit throughout the booking process.

Pictures online were not like the room we got. Our room was old with plaster patches on the walls, mold around the tub and water stains on the walls and furniture. The dresser and both had broken drawers so we just lived out of our suitcases for 4 days. The dead bolt to the main door was broken and had to be fixed and the double door leading to the pool was also broken in that the second door was not firmly secured so that you could easily have kicked it open. There was no phone or facial tissues in the room. Other than being old the room seemed clean so it was livable but not as advertised or worth the price. The pool was warm but closed early at 8pm. Definitely not the same as the pictures on the website. Pictures are either old or for a renovated room. Also, the website mentioned golf as if it was an amenity but there is no golf.

Island Sun Inn may not be a boutique hotel, and it's certainly not 5-star. But the property and rooms are clean, the pool is heated, the shower was great. Most of all, the staff - ALL OF THEM - are helpful and kind and just wonderful. It's close to beaches and close to shopping. I would stay here again!!
