First impressions were that the two staff who greeted us were a little frosty and did little to tell us about the hotel, the spa, the rooms or how anything worked.
The design of the hotel looks good from the outside and the bedrooms are great but the minimalism of the common areas just doesn't work. We wanted to have a few drinks but there is no bar so we awkwardly sat on 4 chairs on reception too far apart from each other. The dining room too lacked intimacy and was overly lit. Then there were a couple of completely empty rooms, which are presumably for functions but need repurposing when functions are not on if they are not to look slightly ridiculous. For a hotel that prides itself on its design, these are big missteps.
Also, as is so often the case, a little basic detail had been overlooked - our shower head was caked with limescale and only about 30% of the individual holes were open. When are hotels going to learn to ensure cleaning staff ensure showers are working properly and keep shower heads clean accordingly?
