“We stayed one night on our way to Scotland. The hotel is easy to find on the outskirts of Berwick upon Tweed and is located in beautiful grounds. On arrival we were made to feel welcome and check-in was simple. Our room was lovely, very big with a large en suite and a view over the gardens on the "pods". As others have commented the rooms are not totally sound proof, but we weren't bothered by the noise. We slept well in a very comfortable bed. Dinner was excellent. The food was very tasty……

“Great location, clean and comfortable room, but only after booking room did I find out that the hotel is not staffed and I would have to call to get an entry code, which required borrowing a bartender's phone to make the call, since I didn't have phone service in Scotland. All this happened very late in the day on a Sunday, where a missed call could have meant nowhere to stay in a small town. They need to change the procedure or give fair warning through Expedia before booking.”

“Upon arrival to Berwick we had a difficulty in finding the hostel and had to ring for the directions unfortunately.
