“The food was excellent in the the african restaurant and the seafood restaurant. The main one was all in all mediocre. The breakfast was also dissapointing. The fruits were good!”

“The property was great , the staff was great however my stay was not pleasant due to beach vendors harassing tourist at all times I couldn’t go swim in ocean because they wouldn’t leave me alone, and even after I told them I was not interested in anything from them they proceeded to disrespect me and say rude things. Because of this I will only return to Zanzibar if the hotel has a private beach because the harassment from the local vendors and the so called “ Masai” people is wayyyyy too much,……

“We had a great stay and a wonderful time at J.B.R. The property is well kept, cozy and very pretty; our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is excellent! “Hotel atypique style africain safari, on était un couple avec un nourrisson, on a eu la chambre 178 c'était difficile de se déplacer de la chambre vers la piscine / restaurant du soir car trajet trop long. Si non personnel aimable, il faut surtout pas sortir vers la plage car les locaux te saute dessus pour espérer de vendre un truc.. si non globalement cest un bon hotel qui represente l'Afrique. ”

There is a lovely pool but no real sandy beach, though with swimming shoes, you can get down easily to swim when the tide is in. “Extremly isolated. No possibility to eat outside (without Taxi). Daily power cuts, some of which lasted a long time. No air conditioning and no WLAN during this time. Bar and restaurant also affected. The staff are very keen to maintain European standards, but are overzealous. “Staff seemed unhappy Although the advertisement says non powered water sports are included that is not true. It is a hike to do anything from the hotel such as boring diving, tours etc Everything is at least an hour away. High tide eliminates the beach. Low tide brings droves of annoying “beach boys” selling everything- they are very persistent and will kill your desire to swim in the sea. Hoses on the beach look nice but know what they will leave behind - nothing done to clear that”
