The Palms at Kitty warf is a home best defined by nature. Rays of sunlight, a lonesome cloud drifting slowly across a turquoise Caribbean Sea. A warm tropical breeze circulating throughout the house. The scent of a delicious island dinner, lovingly being prepared for you by Ligia our talented cook. Tonight might be fresh local lobster or black crab. Your favorite drinks all served island style, relaxing amongst family and friends. Ligia will nourish and happily fill you up all week long with her caribbean inspired food and a whole lot of love.
As the days pass.....the space takes you further, into a harmonious and tranquil state. Surrounded by the ocean, beaches, mountains, and most importantly the Raizal people. Old Providence, their island, their way of life.
This is the idea behind the Palms at Kitty Wharf. Something to share, authentic and full of life.
Built from tropical hardwoods and flowing with artistic Caribbean touches, the house was designed to live equally inside and outside. Each of the three large bedrooms is open and airy with updated modern bathrooms and beds. There is a large sweeping veranda overlooking the ocean, complete with soft comfortable lounge chairs and over-sized hammocks. All the furnishings and amenities to make your stay, as pleasant and stress-free as possible. The atmosphere and feel of the house is equal part Robinson Crusoe, meets Bob Marley vibe...
Ideally the house might appeal to larger families with children, groups or possibly even a small wedding party. During the slower months its' a perfect time for couples.
PLEASE NOTE--- The housekeeping and chef services are Included in the rates listed. THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The area where the house is located is called Lazy Hill. It benefits from cooler, more temperate evening breezes and its' close proximity to the best beaches on the island. Just a few minutes away by scooter or Golf cart buggy/Atv and you're arrived at, arguably the two most enchanting beaches in the Caribbean. Warm water, gentle waves and pure relaxation. Southwest Bay and further along Manzanillo Beach. Both of which have the most tranquil and laid back reggae bars. I spend way too much time there!! Toes in the sand, drinking a Havana Club rum watching it all unfold. If you feel that's too much effort don't worry !! Just stroll along from the house a few minutes down a tiny path to a secluded cove. Lets call it lovers beach!!
OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER
There are many fantastic ways to discover the beauty in the landscape. You can take long walks on quiet beaches. Hike up a superb trail with a local guide to the highest mountain peak. Catch a rare glimpse of the endemic species of birds, flora and fauna. Horseback riding is also an option...on the beach or up the trail.
On the water there are so many things to do. Here is a broad list of what can be enjoyed...
+ Diving
+ Snorkelling
+ Fishing
+ Boating around the reef
+ Kitesurfing
+ Kayaking
I can give you more specific information on any of these categories.
Lastly, learning about the local Raizal culture could be the best part of your time on the island. That could mean sharing an old story about the history of the island from one of the locals or visiting a garden owned by a well known farmer. Even possibly taking an art or cooking class. Music is also very important and is culturally unique. If you love music, you might be able to spend time with some gifted musicians learning how to play calypso or reggae. Finally, please set aside some time for the horse races that happen over some of the weekends on the beach at Southwest Bay. Trust me on that idea..!!
GETTING AROUND
Scooters, 'golf buggies' or even small cars are available. Luz Marina, our house manager can arrange these for you before you arrive, as well as ANY other activities you would like to enjoy while on the island. She knows so much about the island.
