Luxury villa with pool on the slopes of Etna

Located at the foot of the Mompilieri crater and towered by the immensity of the Etna, Villa nel Monte enjoys the tranquility of an ancient and unspoiled landscape, pampered by the luxury of its interior and its private pool.

The villa is born of the precious connection of art and knowledge of a father, skilful restorer, and his son, architect with innovative and eco-sustainable ideas. The result is a sophisticated, modern and at the same time profoundly Sicilian villa, ideal for those who are looking for an authentic holiday without renouncing style and comfort.

At 5 minutes walk from the house is Nicolosi, a vibrant village known as the 'Porta dell'Etna' that offers numerous restaurants, shops and sports facilities and is a must for those who wish to explore the largest volcano in Europe. In other words, you will have everything you need and more without ever having to take the car. Also, directly from the villa, a very nice path enriched by fruit trees leads to the top of Mount Mompilieri with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Catania.

When you are ready to leave Nicolosi and the wonders of Etna, with 20 minutes drive you can reach Catania with its baroque buildings, the ancient fish market, the shopping streets and a fine sandy beach. With just one hour drive, you will find Taormina, a world-class and elegant town, considered by many to be the pearl of the Mediterranean, and Siracusa, a fascinating and timeless town, with a romantic promenade and an ancient Greek theatre that cannot be missed.

You can access Villa nel Monte from a spacious and bright living room with sofa bed, a modern kitchen and access to the terrace and the panoramic garden. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms, all equipped with windows and air-conditioning. Two bathrooms with shower are one in the living area and the other in the sleeping area. A third bathroom and a fourth bedroom are located in the independent annexe, just below the terrace and closer to the pool.

Whether you want to enjoy the Sicilian summer from a cooler and more privileged location or dream of skiing in winter on the snow of Mount Etna, Villa nel Monte is without a doubt one of the best holiday homes in this part of Sicily.

On request it is possible to reserve a transfer (up to 7 people).

N.B. In a room on the first floor, the single bed is a 160 cm children's bed.

The private pool measures 9 by 4 meters and it is completely fenced. The pool is open all year round.

Well appointed base for Etna exploration
Villa Nel Monte was a great property with lots of character and different spaces to enjoy. Hosts were communicative and welcoming. The location is a short ~20-30 min drive to key locations around Etna, and very close to vineyards. We chose it for it’s location a little out of Nicolosi, but it was an easy (although not on pavements) 10 min walk into the town for dinner, drinks, or late-night gelato! Domestic dogs do bark as you go by, but that’s normal for the type of area. The barking kept some of us up the first night, but I think we got used to it. The kitchen had everything we could need, including incredible welcome gifts including a homemade cake, olive oil, limoncello, and a huge basket of blood oranges in the fridge! The house came with a cat (outdoors) and its kitty friends, which my son loved, but someone with a cat allergy might find challenging if they want to spend a lot of time in the garden. Overall we had a great time and happily spent a whole day just at the Villa. With swings, see-saw, pool, table-football, etc there was plenty to keep everyone busy! Thanks to the hosts for a great stay!

PARENTS ANNIVERSARY TRIP
Villa nel Monte is perhaps the best property my wife and I have ever rented. Not only was the house, property and pool beautiful but the owners were very communicative and helpful before we even arrived. The real gold star goes to Lidia who lives near by. She went with the flow when our travels hit a snag, pushing our arrival back a day. She went above and beyond when one of our party suffered a back injury that required a visit to a doctor. She sorted out location of clinic and called ahead to prepare them for our arrival. She, of course, was also only a text away if we needed a suggestion of where to go from restaurants to beaches and just about anything you could think to ask about. She was worth her weight in gold. I highly recommend this location as a wonderful rental and good spot to see so much in that region. Nicolosi itself is a small, quiet town but it too has some nice restaurants and a few pubs that are 10-20 minute walk from the house. Grocery and butcher are a 5 minute walk up the road so easy to stock up for those days you just won't want to leave the pool. And trust me...you will have at least one of those days. Fantastic place!

Wonderful hosts and villa
We booked the villa for my mom’s 80th birthday and both my family and my brother’s family flew in. The hosts were already waiting for us at the properly and had made a special cake! The villa had everything you could want - pots, pans, cups, cutlery, coffee machines, toaster, microwave, etc. We cooked every night and had a great family time around the big kitchen table. We all enjoyed playing table tennis and foosball (unfortunately, couldn’t use the pool as it was still too cold). The garden was well taken care of and so peaceful with many birds chirping around all day long. The host (Lidia) was very responsive and helpful and gave us many tips on where to go and what to do. We took our kids for paragliding and they had an amazing experience. Overall, we had a memorable time at the villa and would highly recommend it, especially for family vacations.

A most beautiful villa to begin your stay in Sicily.
Villa Nel Monte is beautiful. Our experience was fantastic. The photos accurately represent the property. It is located in Nicolosi outside of Catania which is about 25 minutes from the airport. It is very walkable into town with some fabulous restaurants and patisserie!! The Toti family owners are a dream to work with. Communication is easy through WhatsApp and was continuous throughout the trip as we had questions about restaurants, wineries etc. They are so attentive to their guests without being the least intrusive. Upon arrival we were greeted according to our arrangement. For us there was a delicious homemade cake, fruit, water, it made for a wonderful greeting after a long travel experience. We had a tour of the house and property…..so very beautiful. We lacked for nothing as everything is well thought out for your stay. The kitchen is well equipped with pot and pans and utensils for home cooked meals. The property is large enough (and beautiful) to allow guests plenty of space for alone time as well as communal living and eating. The sleeping arrangements work well as we had 8 adults (couples and singles). The bedrooms are well appointed and very comfortable. There is a washer and drying racks. Ample towels and linens. I travel quite a bit and of the various villas I have stayed at Villa Nel Monte has been the most beautiful, well equipped, comfortable and relaxing. You would be hard pressed to find a family as wonderful as the Lidia and her family as the owners.

Wonderful hosts; fabulous property
Villa Nel Monte is a beautiful villa set in a lovely garden against the fabulous backdrop of Mount Etna. The swimming pool was wonderful, a great size, warm and clean . The garden was stunning with lots of trees and well tended flowers. We enjoyed selecting herbs for our cooking each day .The villa was extremely well appointed , comfortable beds and plenty of bathrooms. We enjoyed the generous amounts of glasses, cutlery etc , plenty for 8 people selecting drinks etc throughout the day. The hosts were absolutely wonderful: warm, kind and with excellent communication. Nothing was too much trouble for Lidia who was on hand at all times with suggestions, comments or kind enquiries. The generous amount of food and drink which they gave to us was so enjoyed and appreciated. This included a pie, ice cream and Limocello all home made and totally delicious. We have returned home with many happy memories of a very special holiday. Thank you

Two weeks enjoy in Sicily
Villa absolutely fantastic to stay. The owner really taking care of everything going well on holiday. Nicolosi is a lively town with plenty of restaurants where you can walk from villa. We had a car, so easy to visit Taormina, Siracusa, Etna etc. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and well-appointed Villa, in sight of Etna
Villa Nel Monte is one of the best properties we have stayed in, as a family of six grown-ups. The large kitchen-diner lends itself well to family lunches and dinners. The annex allows the more sedate in a group to escape early in the evenings if they need to. Bathrooms and bedrooms have everything you need and are well designed. Seating areas outside and the private pool are excellent. The photos do not do it justice! If you are seeking a luxury Villa, fully equipped with everything you need, within view of the majestic Etna, this is the one for you. Host Lidia and her family also make sure you are comfortable and the welcome food and drinks are delicious! Also, very important, great aircon, and plenty of land surrounding the Villa to assure your privacy.

Great Place for a holiday with friends and/or family
The house was clean and prepared when we arrived. Communication with the keyholder was no problem and if we had questions we got an answer in under an hour. The location of the house was great and we had a beautiful view onto Etna. All in all it was a very relaxing place to stay.

Schitterende villa van hele lieve Siciliaanse familie vlakbij Etna
We hebben met 5 volwassenen en 4 kinderen deze villa gehuurd. Vanaf het begin af aan was het supergoed geregeld. We hadden voor aankomst via whatsapp contact met de eigenaar die ons alle leuke plekken van de omgeving heeft getipt. De villa staat net buiten het centrum van Nicolisi op loopafstand van verschillende restaurants, bakker, slager, etc. De villa is geweldig en van alle gemakken voorzien. Bedden, douches, internet, keuken is perfect en in hele goede staat. Het huis bestaat uit begane grond met douche, toilet, keuken, wasmachinehok. Op de 1e verdieping zijn 3 slaapkamers met een 2 persoonsbed, waar nog een klein kinderbed bij geschoven kan worden en een douche, toilet. Schuin onder het huis zit een prima gastenverblijf met een 2-persoonbed en 2 losse bedden, ook weer met een douche, toilet. Tijdens ons verblijf zijn we naar de Etna (noordzijde + zuidzijde), Syracuse, Taormina, Alcantara-kloof en Pantalica geweest (alles binnen 1h rijden).

A Perfect Stay in Sicily
The house is beautiful and well equipped. There’s a great garden and two lovely cats. The hosts were very kind and helpful. We could check in earlier and check out later, which was very nice of them. There‘s only one little negative aspect: The pool wasn‘t cleaned regularly and the water in the pool was very cold. We would recommand villa nel monte to everyone, who wants to have great time in Sicily.

Family Reunion
That property was perfect for our family. The pool was so relaxing after days of sightseeing. The playground on the upper terrace was enjoyed by our grandchildren. A hike to the crater in the back yard is not to be missed. A panoramic view of the area was amazing. We were greeted with food and wine that prevented us from making a trip to the store on our arrival. Several markets were in close proximity. Lydia and Tito were prompt in addressing any issues with the property. We were fortunate to experience many light shows from Mt. Etna from the upper terrace. It was truly amazing! It was a comfortable house for 7 adults and 2 children.

Das Haus mit dem tollen Pool hat der ganzen Familie sehr gut gefallen. In der näheren Umgebung kann man sehr gut einkaufen. Das Haus ist für Selbstversorger sehr gut ausgestattet. Zum Glück haben alle Zimmer eine Klimaanlage. Verschiedene Terassen erlauben zu den unterschiedlichen Tageszeiten ein Ausweichen in den Schatten. Man hat einen tollen Blick auf den Ätna. Die vor Ort Betreuung durch die Familie war sehr herzlich.

Fabulous Villa
We had a wonderful 2 week stay at Villa nel Monte. We were made very welcome by Toti and we were left a selection of foods which meant we didn’t have to shop immediately. The villa is very spacious and clean and has everything you possibly need. The grounds are full of olive trees and vegetables growing which we sampled. The villa is in a very good location for visiting places like Taormina and walking into Nicolosi which has a large number of restaurants which are very good and reasonably priced. The view of Etna is amazing and we were lucky enough to go up with a guide. We also met Lydia ( the only female guide on Etna) who was very helpful in suggesting places to visit. Thank you Toti, Lydia and Katia for letting us stay in your beautiful villa.

Lovely villa, even better than the ad!
I spent a fortnight in Villa nel Monte with my family and some friends in August. The villa was even better than the ad suggested - the swings and seesaw delighted my 5 year old and her friend, while the pool and all the pool toys and inflatables kept the 8 year olds entertained. It had probably the best-equipped kitchen I've ever seen in a holiday rental (two different coffee machines and a milk frother!) and definitely the best welcome pack, which meant we didn't have to rush off to the supermarket for the first day. Both Lidia and Toti were very informative, welcoming and responsive. It's just a short walk to Nicolosi from the villa (about 5 mins to the outskirts, 10-15 to the centre) where there are lots of restaurants to choose from, and lots of great sights within an hour's drive. The Aqua Park at Etnaland is hands down the best water park we've ever been to (according to an LA Times article displayed there it's the 15th best water park in the world), and only a 25 minute drive so we went twice. The Adventure Park is another must do for kids - about a 5 minute drive to fantastic treetop climbing (again we visited twice!). All in all, a wonderful villa in a great location,

Had a wonderful time. Perfectly located in the foothills of Etna, great facilities and nicely furnished. Within daytrip reach of some wonderful old cities and coastline including Taormina and Syracuse. The trek to the summit area of Etna was breathtaking.

Beautiful spacious villa in great location
We had a perfect time staying at this villa in Nicolosi. The photos are great but it is even better in person. The house is cool and spacious and finished to a high quality with plenty of room for everyone. There is plenty of space to park with locked gates at the end of the drive. The photos don't quite show how large the property is - there are lots of places to sit and a herb garden, olive trees and a plum tree. From one place you can see mount Etna clearly from the garden. There is a great barbecue and lots of seating. The pool is a bit larger than many other villas meaning you can fit three children in it at the same time without them bumping into each other and arguing too much. Which makes sitting around the pool on one of the many loungers even more enjoyable. We brought pool toys for the children. but there are lots of floats and flippers available. The kitchen is really well stocked meaning you don't have to rush out to buy the small things you need such as salt or oil. They were kind enough to leave us snacks for our first day and a beautiful home made plum cake. They also have lots of different local wines that you can pay for at the end of your stay which makes all the difference after a long flight. The town itself is perfect if you are looking for a 'proper' Sicilian experience. It is not a tourist destination full of Brits abroad but a real emersion into their culture. The town including numerous restaurants and shops (supermarket, butchers, fishmongers) are just 5 - 10 minutes walk away and not expensive. We ended up eating out most nights because we could feed 5 people including deserts and wine for €65. The pool and its filter system serve as a perfect insect deterrent meaning we were not hounded by wasps or insect bites! If you get bitten on holiday you'll know the bonus in this. We were beautifully taken care of whenever we had a question or issue including the family staying up to welcome us at nearly 1 am after a delayed flight and car hire craziness. Everyone had a perfect holiday and we had many a conversation about how if we won the lottery we would come back every year for 3 months. Thank you for making it a memorable week.

Great Villa near Mt. Etna
We lived our time at Villa Del Monte - Lidia and Totti were very informative and helpful. The treats that greeted us at the Villa were very thoughtful. The villa had everything we could ask for and is beautifully appointed. There was more than enough room for 7 adults. The grounds are well maintained and we used the pool, BBQ, sitting areas, dinning area and foozball daily. Being able to watch My. Etna while having a coffee or glass of vino and take advantage of a festival in Nicolosi were a bonus. The location makes it very easy to travel this side of Sicily on day trips. Would recommend this Villa for large groups or families.

Fantastiskt ställe
Perfekt ställe för som vi 2 familjer med 5 barn. Bra poolområde och fint hus. Lugnt läge och nära till mataffärer och restauranger. Kanonbemötande av hyresvärden. Skulle dock stannat 2v ost för 1v, hann inte med allt vi ville göra. Det enda är att det är ca 40min eller mernom man vill åka till havet och bada.

Beautiful property with very warm welcome
Great location with amazing views on Mount Etna. The property had a real homely and modern feel with many of its features having been designed and created by the family owners. It was a very special and unique place to stay. Tito, Lydia and their mum were so incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, generous and passionate about the property, the local area and Sicily in general. From the property you can walk directly up to an old crater, as well as into Nicolosi to the shops or to one of the many restaurants where we found some fabulous local pizza. We also ventured out a little further by car to Etna, Taormina, Syracuse, Catania and Agriento - all worth doing. Overall, we loved it. Only downside was being there so early in the year that the temperatures were not warmer allowing us to make use of the pool. Next time we will come back in the summer!

Super Haus
Wir hatten einen super schönen Urlaub in diesem Haus. Es war ein herzlicher Empfang. Wir hatten schon viele Häuser, ab dieses hatte eine super Kuechenausstattung. Es war alles da und fuer 7 Personen auch in der richtigen Größe. Wir können dieses Haus sehr empfehlen.

Wunderschönes Haus und tolle Vermieter!
Wir, 4 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder, verbrachten hier eine wunderschöne Woche. Das Haus ist großzügig, komfortabel eingerichtet und sauber. Wir wurden liebevoll durch Lidia und Toti begrüßt und über alles zu Haus und Umgebung informiert. Die kulinarischen Willkommensgeschenke (hausgemachter Kuchen, Eis, Marmelade und Limoncello) waren alle sehr lecker. Im Laufe der Woche schauten sie immer mal wieder persönlich vorbei, ob alles in Ordnung ist. Am Besten für uns war der Aufstieg auf den Ätna mit Lidia als unserer kompetenten Führerin. Es war absolute Spitze! Vielen Dank nochmal für die erlebte Gastfreundschaft.
