Newport News Historic Hotel

"Hotel was in a fantastic location, which was the main reason we picked it. We probably would have booked a less expensive room if we had known the fireplace in the room could not be used (even though it got pretty cold). The first day of our stay was very warm, but the outdoor pools were not open yet. That was a disappointment to us as well."

"Not at all handicap accessible. Nonsmoking room reeked of smoke and bed linens had burn holes. Room under construction and not finished. Lights missing. Hotel staff unavailable at night. They wanted to charge a dollar for a second room key. Two sets of towels for 4 people. No breakfast offered. No parking spaces available in the immediate area, as there were piles of construction materials in several parking spots. Hotel employee (manager) became agitated and called police when my wife grazed...
