We rented the house for 2 weeks leading to July 4 to get some well needed family time away. We were hoping for a serene vacation but got a much different experience, in an Ill maintained, dirty, grimey, somewhat dangerous house with an unprofessional, rude property manager.
Cleanliness: The house was dirty, sticky, smelly, dusty and old, the couches stained and broken, the kitchen stale, and clearly has not been well maintained. Luckily we brought our own bedding, as many were torn and old, and since the towels were musty and flaking, the property manager arranged some new ones as we couldn't use the old ones. The toilet overflowed many times when we arrived and twice someone had to come in to fix this. The main couch in the living room is not only old but also broken in the middle which made it very uncomfortable to use.
Pool: The pool in itself was descent, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 (and definitely not worth what we paid) but it was promised to be heated and we couldn't use it at least 2 days because the heater malfunctioned (it said so clearly on the control panel). Luckily the very nice guy from the pool company was accommodating and communicative and did his best to replace it, which allowed the children to continue using it later on.
Poison ivy: the front of the house is full of poison ivy. This has already been mentioned in one of the previous reviews from August 2019 so we assumed it was all taken care of. Unfortunately it wasn't, and two of us got a bad poison ivy rash. To which the property manager alluded that we brought it from Chicago.
The property management: Whenever we rightly complained about cleanliness, pool heater, broken toilet etc, she suggested sending a handyman/cleaning lady to fix it. When I stated that it was not our job to entertain her handymen she falsly blamed us for not letting the handymen in ("if you refuse their services I'll have to charge you") even though we did. Disregarding our time, she gave us vague notices on when someone should arrive ("I don't know when, I don't own the company") I would have loved to post all the fun photos and texts from her as they speak for themselves but regardless, a professional property manager would never treat their customers so rudely, and would have made sure to address all the problems in the house between occupancies. We had a very challenging vacation, not calm or serene, and we absolutely do not recommend this house.
