The room was large, and we could see the top of the main pyramid at Uxmal from our balcony. The facility is quite close to the archaeological site, only about 3 or 4 minutes by car. And although we arrived kind of late (8:30), we were able to get dinner in the restaurant which closed at 9:00. That's the good news. The bad news is that the place has a "seen better days" ambience, and there was a visible layer of dust throughout our room. There was a pair of underwear hanging in the shower from a previous guest, suggesting that the cleanup service is not all that attentive. The food we had in the restaurant was easily the worst meal we've had in 8 days on this trip, coming in at a little below what one would expect from a typical, greasy American diner. I've had better meals from the frozen food section. After our visit to the ruins, we returned to shower before hitting the road, but the electricity was out, and apparently their water supply depends on an electric pump because there was no running water either. This is a great location, and compared to the properties right outside the Uxmal gates, a bargain. So this is a fine place to stay if you want an early start on the ruins, but there is no other reason to stay here.
