Immerse yourself in the unique culture and natural beauty of one of Northern California's most historic and picturesque seaside villages.

This spacious upstairs studio apartment has amazing ocean views and two exterior balconies overlooking Mendocino Bay and the Pacific. Convenient central location allows walking through town or strolling down beaches and around headlands. Village shopping and Headlands hiking are steps away. Includes a simple, compact kitchen to prepare meals at home. Park the car and put on your walking shoes as everything Mendocino has to offer is within an easy stroll through town. Perfect spot to enjoy Mendocino's many fine restaurants, shops and galleries.

Our bright, modern, 900 sq ft studio features 14 foot ceilings, skylights, cork floors, a queen size bed, flat screen with direcTV, kitchen / dining area, full bath with over sized tub / whirlpool jets and wireless internet.

Step out onto one of two exterior balconies offering dramatic views of the Mendocino Headlands State Park and the Pacific Ocean.

We are happy to assist you with all the ins and outs of this picturesque town and help make your Mendocino experience a cherished memory.

Please note:

This friendly, modern space is bright and airy... morning sun is abundant!

There is some daytime noise from the small shop located below the apartment. The shop is open from 10:30 until 5:30 daily.

Our compact kitchen is equipped with a 4 burner propane stove/oven, dishwasher, granite counter tops, toaster, coffee maker, and an eclectic collection of pots, pans, basic cooking utensils, assorted dishes and silverware. We have most everything you might need for a simple meal. Simple amenities include organic instant oatmeal, coffee and tea.

There is no land line telephone here but cell phone reception is great.

No smoking. No pets.

Street parking is free and does not require any meters or permits.

Walking is the best way to get around. Bring comfortable walking shoes and discover the amazing details of this historic town!

Connect! We provide hi speed wireless internet, AppleTV, direcTV and an aux cable on the Bose stereo for your iPod.

Our stay
The location is great. The view is superb. The studio is well arranged. Unfortunately, the place does not make a clean impression. We received no response from the owner to a simple question we had (possibility of charging the electric car using the regular power outlet). There is a city code violation note posted on the entry door, issued by the local office. The note was a big surprise.

DO NOT RENT THIS PLACE
Unsafe! Dirty! Not as advertised! We arrived to a dirty and disheveled apartment. Dirty sheets and towels, garbage throughout the apartment. When I tried to reach the host, I was told “good luck, she never returns calls” (which proved to be true). We found clean sheets and towels and cleaned up the trash. After calling the host more than 10 times, she finally texted us 12 hours later to tell us to move out and find another place. No apology. Problem was, there was no other place. In the time we spent there, the host never called us once. There were no fire extinguishers. There were missing electrical plates with exposed electrical wires. The dishwasher did not work and there was no barbecue grill as advertised. The heater “malfunctioned” and cranked up to 80 in the middle of the night. It was a NEST and I suspect the host was controlling it remotely to mess with us. I’ve made a claim with VRBO and my credit card company.

Would have been perfect
I would have given this property a five star rating. It is a light filled spacious studio with interesting art works. The balcony overlooks the ocean. And you can easily walk everywhere in town as well as along the ocean. Now for the bad, the studio was not cleaned before I arrived. I managed to take sheets off the small bed in a back room (for kids). I tidied the trash and washed the dishes. Not something I wanted to do after a 17 hour day. I tried to contact the property manger but no response.

Place was clean well equipped and convenient location. It was difficult to find at night but after bothering some neighbors we figured it out. The photo on VRBO needs updating so it is easier to identify which storefront business this darling apartment is above. We otherwise enjoyed our stay immensely

Great Location
This property has a great location!! You have ocean views from the decks. You are in walking distance of all the stores, restaurants, and art galleries in Mendocino. Even though it is on Main Street, it has a relaxing feel to it. It is tastefully decorated and a very spacious studio.

A great stay
We had trouble with the tv as there were no instructions. The grill for the cold air intake for the furnace had come undone and was hanging down . It was like that upon our arrival . It was not a problem though. Other than that it was a fantastic stay. The location was amazing! We enjoyed our stay very much and loved the light in the loft and the view.

I never had such a terrible experience with a rental or treatment by a host. Still waiting for my refund or any communication from the host what so ever, regarding the conditions we found upon arrival. Everything was dirty with cans full of garbage, dirty laundry, beds obviously slept in, dirty and unmade. We arrived at 9pm after a long day driving to an uncleaned and lived in space. The people living in the commercial room below being very loud and felt unsafe.

Strange Visitor
On the first night while sleeping we had an unexpected visitor knocking at our door. My Husband tried to see the person at the door but the porch light was burned out. He opened the door slightly and found a young Woman dressed in black with a hooded jacket. She insisted on coming in to get her mail—he said there was no mail here, she demanded our names. My Husband told her in a stern voice that there was nothing here for her and told her leave and closed the door. We were both shook up thinking she may have been baiting us…we contacted the Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff reported to us they wouldn’t be able to be in the area for a few hours. We barricaded the front door and tried to get back to sleep. The next morning the Young Woman was walking through the backyard where several out buildings were. She continued lurking around the area through our entire stay. It was unnerving.

Over priced and run down
Yes the view is wonderful BUT The accommodations are run down and dirty. Weird items just randomly stuffed into places. Like it’s someone’s home on a regular basis. The windows have black mold all over them and dirt. The dishwasher wasn’t working . The windows don’t open because there rotten. Big open space and you have. Queen Murphy bed?!?! WHY This place needs a serious facelift. I know it’s not cheap or easy to remodel, especially in that area. But do A deep clean , some fresh paint, and updated the furniture. That would almost make it worth the $$$ , with those small improvements. But I wouldn’t recommend or stay again! It’s WAY overpriced for what you get, RUNDOWN and DIRTY!

Disappointing
We weren't able to stay as the key wasn't where the VRBO directions said it was and we couldn't contact the owner. We arrived to find the business where the key was supposed to be was not in business any longer. I checked with an adjacent business hoping the key might be there, but no. My wife tried for over an hour to reach the owner through VRBO chat with no response. We tried to call the owners phone several times with no answer other than a notice the mailbox was full. After driving for more than 4 hours we needed to find another place to stay. The owner responded to the VRBO chat the next morning - October 9, with an apology and an offer for a full refund, which we happily accepted. We are still waiting for the refund with no response to 2 further VRBO chat messages from us requesting informaition. And an additional attempt at a phone call - still no answer and a full mailbox. We have stayed at this property before with no issues which makes this experience even more disappointing.

Views Can’t Be Beat!
We had coffee on the deck watching the waves and storms roll through. Right in the heart of Mendocino, you can walk the entire town from the front door. Really fun to see the place in the opening credits of Murder, She Wrote! Fantastic stay, definitely will be back!

Great location but needs TLC
Great location right on Main Street, facing the ocean and adjoining the headlands park with great walking paths and spectacular wild flowers. The place is a bit run down. There’s a sign saying the dishwasher is broken. There’s a sign saying the windows can’t be opened because they are falling apart. The linoleum floor is clean, but very badly marked.

booked a week in advance. property owner ignored us for 5 days (sent her multiple messages in the week leading up to our vacation and she ignored them all). when the day of our vacation comes, she cancels our reservation 3 hours before check in (when we’re already in mendocino) with no warning. her first communication with us was telling us she was cancelling. listen to the reviews, don’t book this place. plenty of cheaper and more reliable places to stay at in the area

Had to Abandon ship
Awful experience and I didn’t stay for more than 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Mendocino on New Years Eve 2022. Get to rental and bam. Hits us right in the face.. looks like someone is living here. Dirty everything. Bed unmade, towels dirty. Bathroom filthy. Trash, dishes, everything. Shocked we call host… no answer. Robot voicemail. leave a message. Go to VRBO account. Leave a message. No response. Not having anywhere to go and losing daylight we began to clean. 🤬 so gross! Get to the bathroom and give up, and rent in a town away. Called Deborah if that is her name, and verbally canceled. Guess Debo didn’t get the message cuz VRBO says we stayed in that disgusting place. Worst of all, I left recouping the bill to credit card company because it was so egregious/ cut and dry to me. Can’t cancel if you can’t contact host. credit card co shoots it back to me to recoup from a scam artist that has no address and a phone number that never answers or calls back in Hawaii. Worst experience in short term rental. I’m out $740. Read the reviews people pass up this jerk and her scam.

A Funky (and not in a good way) Disappointment
Shabby, not very clean, no Internet or television working, and no manager available ("Deborah" did not return our call for assistance). Tricky to find because the directions were outdated and told us to look for a store that no longer exists in order to find the apartment above it. The views and central location were good, however.

Terrible Communication/Dirty Rental
Location/view was the only nice thing my husband and I can say about this place. Checkin date on May 12th. I reviewed the checkin instructions early in the day and noticed that the instructions ask you to call the property owners if you are getting there after 5:30. I called and left a message, as well as emailing. We arrived after driving 3 hrs with still no call or response as to how to get in the studio. Come to find out the key was under a shell on the deck ----- this was NOT in the instuctions and how were we to find that in the dark. We had to find alternative lodging for the night. We called VRBO and instructed to drive over to the property and call VRBO back in order to take next steps. We did and they too tried to contact the owners with no success. We were offered a $100 inconvenience fee from VRBO. We finally found the key under the shell to get in. We were met with A DIRTY BED and DIRTY/SOMEWHAT WET towels in the bathroom. That is disgusting during any time but even more so during this pandemic!! We were so blown away. SO disappointing that the owners have still NOT responded or contacted me about the situation. We had to go by Clorox wipes, change the bed and things we should never have had to do in a rental. All and all, not a good rental. Location/view was beautiful but what we went through really tainted the whole experience. Wouldn't recommend!
