The view extends from the majestic Mount Macedon in the north tracing the ranges all the way to the triple peaks of Geelong’s You Yang’s across to the local Mount Gisborne with blue sweeps of Port Phillip bay and the ocean beyond.
Accommodation: 6 bedrooms – sleeps up to 13 guests. 4 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms downstairs all with lovely views.
Please note that a 6 person minimum applies on weekends.
The spacious open plan living, dining, kitchen area and separate TV room are located upstairs along with the 4 bedrooms - all accessible at ground level and leading to the large north deck providing sun and views. Downstairs almost like a separate wing is the lovely Master suite with queen bed, views and en-suite; separate living room and north facing deck plus an additional bedroom downstairs with queen bed or twin single beds. Ideal setup for multi-generation families (in-laws/grandparents can peacefully stay downstairs!) However, the home is split level so the upper floor also has ground entry not requiring stairs.
Outdoor dining table, BBQ and lounge chairs on a sunny north facing deck and of course, the sunken fire pit for cosy fire, subject to weather conditions and CFA rules.
Located on 10 acres, you’ll enjoy all the benefits of farmhouse living with all the comforts of an architect designed modern, bright and sunny residence surrounded by neighbouring properties with horses, cows, alpacas and sheep. This property has a regular family of kangaroos, the occasional koala and echidna and numerous birds, hares and rabbits.
Note that there are unfenced dams on the property.
Location: This property is only 30 minutes from the airport, 45 minutes from Melbourne and 50 minutes from Daylesford. It is the ideal distance to experience a rural lifestyle and explore regional areas while still being able to access Melbourne for day trips in the comfort of the local train arriving hourly at Southern Cross station and avoiding traffic/parking issues.
The mysterious Hanging Rock is just 15 minutes away as is the beautiful gardens and Memorial Cross of Mount Macedon. It is a very easy drive to the historic towns of Woodend, Kyneton, Trentham and Daylesford and all the charming settlements of the Macedon Ranges and further to the hamlets and towns of the Central Goldfields district of Victoria. These places have interesting museums, wineries, breweries, parks, gardens, walks, shops, antique shops and dining opportunities.
Food: The kitchen is well equipped. The lights of the distant city and local townships provide a spectacular backdrop for your home meal and can be finished by enjoying toasted marshmallows or a good red by the outside fire pit (restrictions permitting) and expansive deck. There are 4 supermarkets in Gisborne. Alternatively there are a vast array of restaurants in nearby townships of Woodend, Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Macedon and Kyneton. Recommended restaurants include: Gisborne – The Flying Pigeon, Telegraph Hotel, Canteena, Barringo Wine & Food, Gisborne Tavern, Gisborne Collective, Grand Guru Indian, Three Little Pigs, Hai Yan Chinese. Macedon – Mt Macedon, Mt Macedon Hotel, The Wine Collective. Riddells Creek – Spices & Pestle, Riddells Creek hotel. Woodend - Kuzu Izakaya, Schatzi’s, Sizzler Restobar, Paysanne, The Victoria Hotel, Holgate Brewery (Keatings Hotel). Kyneton - Tansy's, Midnight Starling, Royal George Hotel, and Little Swallow Café.
Wineries: A winery cellar door (Gisborne Peak winery) is a short stroll from the property offering wine tastings and delicious wood-fired pizzas daily (open daytime only). Other recommended local cellar doors include Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon, Hesket Estate and a little further afield Curly Flat (near Lancefield), Knights Granite Hills, Paramoor and Cobaw Ridge. For the golf enthusiasts the Gisborne Golf Course with its resident kangaroos is a highly rated course and only 7 minutes away.
