Designed by a leading Santa Fe Architect and custom built as a retreat , this 3 story 4 bedroom 3 bath home, set on 150 acres with 1/4 mile of creek frontage is a true natural refuge from urban life ,With 3 separate decks over looking the canyon and creek below , nature surrounds and envelopes this property .

**All proceeds from the rental of this lovely retreat are donated to Safe place International, a 501c3 registered nonprofit organization feeding , housing and supporting Doubly marginalized refugees around the world. Your support makes a profound difference .

Perfect for small family reunions or a group of friends enjoying the wineries and natural beauty of lake County , no close neighbors allows privacy and solitude . Harbin Hot Springs is also just down the road, Harbin has just undergone a multi million dollar renovation of their pools and other facilities . Harbin offers massage and other spa treatments and has an amazing gourmet natural foods restaurant . Of course Harbin is most famous for it's healing waters , steam room ,Sauna and Sun Decks .

The House has a full Kitchen stocked with cookware so just shop for your favorite foods on the way up .Set into the side of a hill The Kitchen , laundry room and first full bath are on the mid level floor which is also the entry level . The Master Bedroom , a living area , large outdoor deck and an additional bedroom are on the ground level and 2 more bedrooms , a lounge area with extra sleeping capacity and an additional full bath grace the top floor .

Great to get away from it all, while being close
The cabin design is well thought out, roomy and has great views from every room. We really enjoyed staying here for three nights. It is far from everything, yet drivable to all conveniences and tourist attractions. The cabin itself is very neat and organized, and modern. The small creek nearby is a great soothing voice, as you sip your morning coffee and take in the solitude.

Perfect Seclusion
This property is perfect for those who really want to get away. It's only a fifteen-minute drive from town, but you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere and there is next to no cell service whatsoever so work cannot bother you. We had an absolute blast and will almost certainly be booking this property again.

Nice house but not so good location
House was cute, quaint and cozy, with lots of privacy due to its remote location and no neighbors nearby. Good amount of amenities offered. Breathtaking views of the mountains and sounds from the nearby creek. Property manager was good about communicating with us. Check-in and check-out process was easy. However, it was difficult getting to the house. It was easy to miss the sign and the house was not visible from the road. The location on GPS maps was wrong (took us to the middle of a dirt road near the woods). Very winding, narrow roads as well as bumpy dirt roads on the way to the property. Wifi connection was slow and phone service/signal was poor. I was very allergic to something inside of that house that triggered my asthma, which made for quite an unpleasant stay.

Beautiful place, very serene
Love this place, very spacious with comfy beds and a great kitchen, could easily sleep 10 or even 12 if two were small. Amazing location in the country, so quiet and built for the climate. Caretaker was very kind and responsive, but we didn't need anything else as everything was covered there. Will definitely be back again!

Gorgeous getaway into nature
House is tastefully decorated, kitchen well equipped and setting absolutely beautiful. The creek is literally at the bottom of the driveway, refreshing and fun for kids and adults alike. Highly recommend.

Comfortable stay
We booked this place for thanksgiving with a couple of our friends. Road to the house is a bit bumpy for 15 mins with gravel road but not as bad as it was explained in some of the other reviews. It was already dark when we reached so it was hard to spot the house but it’s quite easy in the daylight. Also network is an issue so recommend downloading offline map. Justin had sent us driving instructions which helped a lot. The place was very comfortable with well equipped kitchen and smart TV. Also there are bunch of wineries 15-20 mins away. Only had a minor issue checking in when we had to lunch in code multiple times but hopefully that should be resolved. Highly recommend the place.

Great Remote Location
Property is better in person vs pics. Very secluded, which is what we were looking for. Follow advice and make sure to bring everything you need with you. One of my fav places i’ve stayed by far.

Don’t stay... too remote
1. You have to travel at least 15+ minutes on a rocky, bumpy and unpaved road to get to the house. Make sure your car shocks are in good working order because it will surely be tested. 2. Pray for electricity. When I was there PG&E had rolling blackout, you will be literally dead in the water. No cell signal, no WiFi, no water because no electricity to pump the water from the well and no backup generator or propane power. I had to drive at 30 minutes to get a cell signal to even contact property manager. 3. Ants invaded us everywhere. Put any unwrapped food down for less than 5 minutes and ants will crawl all over it. 4. Because of lack of electricity, we only used one night of our two night stay, but owner unsympathetic and flatly refused to offer any credit for unused night. He got his money upfront already, cited “weather” conditions, while “generously” offering me a free night IF I rented his property again for at least a 3 nights. Will never rent the place again.

Great home
The house itself was fabulous. The owners need to be more accurate on the distance from towns. It is definitely not near anything and there is nothing around. The wifi was spotty and phone service was very little. GPS takes you to about 1/2 mile from the actual location but once you arrive and settle in it is fun. Just make sure you have everything before you go.

Wonderful Place off the beaten path
We loved this place! It was spacious, creatively decorated, comfortable and truly enjoyable. The large deck offered wonderful evenings visiting, beds were more comfortable then my own at home and everything was fantastic! The only "drawback" was how remote it is (15+ min. from Middletown). This could also be seen as a positive. Our group could have brought more groceries and been perfectly content to never leave the property. Unfortunately, we did not. Our outlook was a "weekend of adventure and new experiences" and we made the best of it.

Ladies Weekend
This property was the perfect size for our group over the weekend. We booked this trip to get away from it all and also access Harbin Hot Springs. It was about 20-25 minutes away which was quite convenient. The house was designed beautifully and decorated to the nines. Its got a totally funky, vibrant aesthetic which was so enjoyable. The beds were awesome and falling asleep to the sounds of the creek was great. The house was clean except for the second fridge. That was pretty dirty. I had to wipe down the patio tables a few times to get them clean. Other than some much needed weed wacking and piles of wood/ building materials (which makes it look messy) the property was decent. The little canyon it sits in is quiet and secluded, minus the road that runs directly in front of the house and separates the property and creek. Traffic was light but obvious. The drive down the long half paved, half gravel road (Big Canyon Rd) was an adventure through magnificent burnt terrain. It is so serene to see the landscape come back to life. The stated signage of "Griffin's Nest" didn't exist but a very rough number sign marked the house. Overall it was a lovely stay with all amenities available except the BBQ. When hooking the propane up, the attachment to the tank kept leaking gas. So it was just a quick change of plans for dinner. No big deal. If you have 10, it will sleep comfortably. Eating could be an issue since the only tables are outside. So just keep that in mind. During the summer the deck is the place to be. Dragonfly's galore and no mosquito bites.

Great summer home
We had a great experience. The house is brand new and the decoration is spot on. It is very spacious and have beautiful bathrooms (that’s right i said bathrooms). The nature surrounding it is gorgeous. Highly recommend this place for a group of friends or family.

Perfect Stay
We were there for the long July 4th weekend and it was the perfect solitude getaway we needed from the busy Bay Area. The house was well stocked and clean and modern. It’s on a unpaved road and no houses nearby. We played in the creek with the kids and enjoyed Harbin Hot Springs down the road. The nice part of the lake was quite a ways away so we never made it but other than that we had a great time star gazing the skyscape and enjoying the weather on the deck. The only other setback was not having a common area to eat around when the sun was too hot to eat outside.

Serene and peaceful
This is our second stay at this location...super isolated and remote with well appointed home and lots of peace and quiet. We stopped for provisions in Napa and stomped in the creek for afternoon entertainment. Will be back as our oldest daughter and her family are not far away and we can have them for a sleepover.

Charming house in a fun location
We loved staying in this beautiful house!! It couldn't have been nicer -- the beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed. All the furniture and the overall decor matched in a way I didn't even know was possible... the aesthetics of the place were just stunning. It was raining when we were there, which was a tiny bit of a bummer -- on a hot day, we would have loved wading in the creek across the street. (Maybe we'll have to come back!) But the rain also added something to the landscape, which is super beautiful. True to the description, the house feels comfortably isolated, so you can really relax and soak in the sounds of the creek and the views of the canyon. I'd also highly recommend paying a visit to the hot springs -- check out the website first so you know what kind of experience you're in for. The house is perfectly situated for a little day trip there. Our group went on our way out on Sunday, and it was definitely a highlight!

Wonderful House
Serene. The house is unique, well designed, and beautifully furnished. The surrounding area is tranquil and secluded, with only the occasional passing car to hint of civilization. My favorite part of the stay had to be the moment after settling in; when the rest of the world faded away and a sense of true relaxation, that this house and the surrounding landscape offers, was allowed to sink in.

Beautiful getaway close to the Bay!
The house is beautifully appointed and there is more than enough space to accommodate a large group get together. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals and there is deck access from each bedroom. The house is relatively remotely located so you can see so many stars at night and listen to the water flowing in the creek across the road - very peaceful! Wifi was spotty at times and phone reception was not great. We had a few hiccups upon checking in but the management team was responsive, which was appreciated. Would definitely rent again!
