Pentye is a converted former boat store/ shed. The cottage is tucked in beside the wall of an old Lime Kiln, set on the banks of the river Lerryn near Fowey. There are direct river views from the dining table and kitchen and the upstairs bedroom. There is also a small balcony with table and chairs for sitting out and watching the tide ebb and flow and good evening sun. Great for morning coffee, early evening drink or a meal. It is ideal for artists, writers, bird watchers, kayakers, paddle boarders and last but not least day dreamers .
You can kayak or paddle board straight from the lawn across the road at high tide. Beautiful riverside, woodland walks straight from the door. The ancient woodland just along from the house was said to be the inspiration for Kenneth Grahame's book 'Wind in the Willows'.
Good coastal walks also a short distance away.

You can hire kayaks from Golant or bring your own paddle boards, kayaks or inflatable boat and paddle from just below the house to St Winnow, Golant, Fowey or Lostwithiel. We do have an alleyway attached to the cottage where you can secure kayaks, paddles boards, bikes etc.
Alternatively Fowey is about 15 mins by car via the Boddinick ferry. There is a very good local shop within a few steps of the house, which sells wine, beer, take away pasties and a wide range of groceries, so no need to take the car out or leave if you don't want to.
There is also a pub in Lerryn again a few steps away called The Ship Inn.The ancient town of Lostwithiel is 3 miles away which has lots of inspiring antique shops, cafes, pubs and a small Co-op supermarket. The Duchy Nursery is just outside Lostwithiel with an excellent range of plants and a really well worth visiting cafe. The Eden Project is only 8 miles, The National Trust's Lanhydrock House and the fishing villages of Fowey, Looe and Polperro are a short drive. Local beaches and coves ideal for swimming approx 20 minutes drive. Within an hour you can reach the vast north coast surfing beaches or the Tate Gallery in St Ives.
There are many good food places to eat out in Cornwall from the nearby Sam's on the Beach at Polkerris to a bit further afield for Nathan Outlaw's in Rock or The Hidden Hut at Portscatho.
There are many quiet spots to just pack up a picnic and take a good book to read and enjoy a bit of solitude if that's your thing too ....
We can consider short breaks of 3 nights between November and April. Please enquire.
