This tiny studio was perfect for a couple or two people who don’t require a lot of space. It was just as described, checking in was simple, and the place was nice and clean. It was easy to find and the location couldn’t be more perfect (especially for me with my daughter living across the street!). It’s within walking distance of the University and different places along Grand, and only about a 3 min drive from downtown. The apartment was equipped with everything needed for a short stay.
The negatives:
1. The studio is behind the main house, access requires you to walk along back of the house, which is fine, but in frigid temps the driveway was extremely icy. We arrived Friday afternoon and salt wasn’t put down until the following afternoon. I nearly had what could’ve been a bad fall. I just think it’s something to be cognizant of when having a rental property as this could be a liability for the owners.
2. The thermostat was turned up when we arrived with a sign that stated it could be turned up during our stay but to set it back to 68 upon departure. That’s wonderful, however, the heating elements weren’t great, and the temperature of the apartment never got above 70, even with the thermostat cranked to 80. I discovered on day two that the AC unit that was set up in an open window was inhibiting the internal temps from rising. I was able to remove that and close the window which did help slightly. Perhaps a space heater would benefit in the winter.
3. The only mirror in the bathroom is a very small vanity mirror, which isn’t ideal for getting ready, and makes it merely impossible for two people to be in the bathroom at one time. While I understand the angles of the wall make it difficult to place an actual mirror, I would suggest a full length mirror on the back of the door. And a couple extra towels in the bathroom would be nice.
Honestly, none of these things would deter me from staying here again. As I mentioned, it was neat and clean and had a lot of nice qualities about it. So I would still recommend this place to anyone who needs a cozy little space for a short time, or even a long term stay for one person. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who has difficulty going up or down stairs as the entrance has a flight of stairs to reach it.
I wasn’t given nor could I find any checkout instructions, which was a bit frustrating, so I had to wing it. I would suggest a booklet or an email to assist with these tasks. Thank you!
