“An unusual and historically interesting house. Our stay was fabulous. The buffet cooked breakfast was disappointing as the fried eggs and mushrooms were dry and the latter over salted. “I stayed at the MacDonald Portal overnight to attend Oulton Park raceway the following day. There’s ample, secure parking (inc EV chargers) the hotel is nicely appointed, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The beds are superb. All the staff we’re more than helpful and the restaurant food was delicious. I will definitely start again in the future and can’t recommend it enough. (Must remember to bring swimming trunks next time too!)”

“We loved our stay at Rowton hall, our room was a master suite with a separate lounge which was great to relax before bed. Breakfast was good plenty to choose from, we had 1 dinner which was very good again plenty of choice. “Suite was good size, but was very warm despite having windows being open (-3 outside) radiators weren’t on so just the general temperature of the room. Bed sank into the middle but was comfortable on the whole. Room decor was fine, if not a little tired could probably do with modernising. Minor blemishes around the room were noticeable, caps on taps missing, cracked plug sockets etc. On the whole good value, but certainly not pristine. Would stay again, but unlikely to pay more.”
