Cozy Cabin Overlooking Beautiful Lake Cuyamaca
Come enjoy some of San Diego's forgotten beauty in this gorgeous, Piute Trail mountain cabin overlooking Lake Cuyamaca and just minutes from the quaint little town of Julian. During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! The cabin has a great view of the lake. We saw a bald eagle and great blue heron. It was really relaxing to sit on the deck and look at the lake (or a book or phone).

Perfect!
We had a great time spending a weekend here with our teenage grandkids. The house and deck has a marvelous view of the lake and had everything we needed for cooking and sleeping! Very clean and met our needs perfectly. Only thing I would say contrary to this is that soon they will need to fix some of the boards on the deck as they need a little help.

Lovely little getaway
Had plenty of pots and pans for us to cook with. Gas on the grill outside was a bit low but we were able to make it work. The air conditioning was probably the best part about the place! Wi-Fi was a bit slow and there’s DirectTV but no Firestick/Roku available. One noticeable parking space is available on the property. The rest are made up spaces on the grass in front of the property. Lighting in the living room was dim but I think it fit the ambiance well. Was a two minute drive from the pub restaurant on the lake.

Great awesome experiences.
It was so awesome! older rustic cabin with turkeys and deer every where. great communication with owners and everything as promised. Little store in Jullian had great steaks for on the grill. Mt Laguna is a great drive and next time will have more time to hike. Jullian pies for breakfast every day was great and the lake and geese and birds also a favorite in the morning sipping coffee on the deck. Will definitely be back. One of my best vrbo experiences yet! Thank you all!

Perfect get-away.
This property was perfect for our get-away. It had everything we needed and was easy to find, check-in and check-out. We know the area and knew that very little food is available in the immediate vicinity, so we brought what we wanted to eat and also went into Julian for dinners (8 miles away.) The property has a rustic decor (a few things could be upgraded), comfortable rooms, all the conveniences needed. We enjoyed relaxing and eating out on the deck overlooking the lake. It was quite hot when we were there, but the AC for the home was excellent. If you are over 300 lb. you likely would not fit into the small shower.

Stayed here for the second year in a row with friends and love the simple, scenic and quiet atmosphere. Everything you need to recharge at night and to enjoy easy access to many different trails during the day. Quick drive to Julian as well.

We just love coming to this property. This time we came for a wedding at the old fire house next to the lake so talk about convenience. Came early to enjoy the outdoor, was able to get dressy for the wedding and go to and from only a short distance. Full amenities so we can bring our own food. The owners leave firewood to use and on day 2 the dog and rain rolled in so we used it all! With another night in front of us, and to our surprise, the owners refilled our wood discreetly and messaged us with the update…seamlessly. Sincere thanks to the hosts. Always a pleasure to stay.

This is a very pleasant place where you can rest and have a very good relaxation, looking towards that beautiful lake, we were lucky enough to have a heavy snowfall where everything became like a Christmas card The place was very clean and cozy and John was very kind and helpful to us, we asked him if he would let us check out later and he soon told us that there was no problem, we also forgot a Bible and he contacted us and very kindly sent us the Bible by mail and we are very grateful for that, he was also very attentive, that we would not lack wood for the fireplace. Everything was lovely, the bedrooms were very comfortable and the living room was very cozy, the kitchen was very functional and the bathroom was spacious and always had plenty of hot water. We are sure we will return again It is a highly recommended and spacious place Having 4 folding beds is a great plus

Beautiful lakeside retreat
Felt like staying at Grandma’s lakeside cabin- classic lake decor, cozy blankets, claw foot tub! We very much enjoyed the gorgeous view right out the front window. Sipping tea on the porch looking at the lake and mountains and trees- so good for the soul. Can’t get closer to the lake than this for this particular lake. Quiet area. Easy drive to Julian. All basic kitchen items available, easy to get in and out, responsive host. Do keep in mind in line with the country getaway from the city, the one tv doesn’t have streaming service.

Great Cabin on the Lake
Great view view of the lake, deer and wild turkeys. Cabin is very comfortable and the fire box is always well stocked with wood for a cozy evening.
