Stayed the weekend for an AVI training course on Berthoud pass. The studio was everything we needed for a weekend in the woods with some fresh snow on Sunday!

Outstanding mountain location

This is a very comfortable studio with neighborhood access to some fantastic backcountry skiing and hiking. As part of my stay I did a 5 mile ski tour out the back door, up to over 11,800 ft with a return down St. Mary's Glacier. Next time I am looking for a place to stay with the family in this area, I will be looking for availability of this studio.

Weekend Getaway

We had the coziest time for our small Thanksgiving :) the property faces the tree line and we woke up to a fresh coat of snow. It was a very magical and memorable weekend for us. We toured the Argo gold mill which was a short 20 min drive from the place.

The Property

Facility was updated nicely. Plumbing issue on Sunday morning. Worked 3 hours with it and could not fix. By noon checked out. Felt no plumber would show on a Sunday afternoon. The property did not mention steps when researching. If recall accurately after paid message received that mentioned steps on the outside for access. When arrived there were 2 large sets of steps to climb. It was not conducive to elderly people or those with medical conditions. No issues outside of the plumbing and the 2 sets of long steps to climb.

We had no hot water from Wednesday to Friday night. Property mgr was very nice about the situation, considering it was the holiday. It says no smoking, but smells of smoke so we lit a candle to mask the smell. There were no napkins or Kleenex available. I think more things like that should be in the condo considering the drive to town is kind of a pain. There were also some underwear in the drawers. Also, the bed is HORRIBLE. We ended up staying in a hotel the last half of our stay. It was nice to have a kitchen.

No power

The house was very nice and clean and the description was accurate. Unfortunately, we arrive to the Home at 8:30 in the evening and there was no power. Mind you it was 27° in the mountains and snowed approximately 8 inches, so very cold weather for May 31. I had a hard time getting a hold of the property owner but finally was able to and he informed me that there was to be a scheduled power outage for quite a few hours over the night, he did not make us aware of this stating he only found out a few hours before. We could’ve received a call or an email but no communication had happened. When we called the power went out

A bad time

I personally had a number of issues which I feel other people might want to be warned about before staying here which I will innumerate below: 1. There are cockroaches in the kitchen 2. The screen door is broken and doesn’t close or latch properly and one of the windows doesn’t open so there isn’t really a way to properly ventilate the property to cool it in the mountain air at night which is the primary way of cooling. Also two of the ceiling fans are very unbalanced and they squeak constantly if they are left on so the nights were hot with just one very small square window open to vent the house. 3. Outside is a carpet of dog poop behind the property like it hasn’t been picked up in months. There’s trash on the ground, old rugs, a literal pickup bed full of trash bags our whole stay, broken appliances etc. Gross stuff. Literally nowhere to step to relieve my pup without stepping in poop. Also he was surrounded and nipped by the three German shepherds and lab who live on the property who bark constantly at you every time you descent the stairs or walk past the property. The dogs are very much not friendly to other dogs and not leashed or in voice control at all so other pet owners beware! 4. The bed sucks. As others have mentioned. 5. I’d think they could spring for more than 1 ply toilet paper, kleenex, and provide coffee filters (which we left) but no luck there either. I guess the good stuff: the communication with the host and the check in process were great.

Great Location

The best part is definitely the location, and it's worthwhile to book just to be in such a beautiful, remote location, so close to St. Mary's Glacier. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive to and from the unit as well. As other reviewers mentioned, this third floor unit gets warm, even on cool nights. There are fans throughout but it is challenging to keep it cool. The kitchen was nicely stocked. The unit was very clean. It's a bit more dated looking vs. the photos on the listing.

Honestly, a little disapointing

First of all, the apartment was really clean, and someone answered the phone when I called or texted on a Friday night or Saturday - super responsive. No complaints there AT ALL. However, we don't get away much, and of primary importance to me on a vacation is to rest. So a cheap, squeaky, bouncy bed just won't do. Well, maybe for $60/night at a really cheap hotel, OK. And the walls were PAPER thin, so everything the girls in apt A said could be heard. When I called and asked about it, the response was immediate. But we could hear just about every word. Lastly, the trailhead for St Mary's Glacier is about 1/2 mile up the road. I thought I would walk out my door and start walking ("at St Mary's Glacier trailhead.") That is probably my mistake.

Wonderful

Great location! The area is secluded and in/surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. The smell of the pine trees is divine and the stream nearby is the only sound that can be heard. The property is very nice and carries the essentials. Since it is located on the 3rd floor, it does get warm inside (even though temps get in the 50s) but with the fans help cool it down. Highly recommend and we will be back!

Fun Mountain Spot

Had a great time staying in this unit over the weekend. For those looking for more of a remote experience and to explore the Saint Mary's area this is a good choice. The unit is located 20mins from Idaho Springs and significantly higher in elevation. Be prepared for the weather to be totally different in the Saint Mary's location compared to Idaho Springs. In our case it was in the 40's and snowy at this property and near 20 degree warmer and sunny in Idaho Springs.

Beautiful remote location

Overall great experience at the unit. Coffee was provided and appreciated in addition to condiments. The location is remote outside of Idaho Springs. I will mention that the previous comments about the bed are accurate. It is noisy and uncomfortable. A $100 mattress foam mattress topper would make a world of difference.

Weekend Getaway

This property is the perfect quick getaway for a weekend near Idaho Springs. We traveled to Keystone and Breckinridge with no issues. The living arrangements were great! Very clean and had the house stocked with all the essentials. I’m from NJ, only recommendation would be a humidifier for us not used to the dry air, would make sleeping easier! Would stay again.
