Very poorly maintained property. Our remote control did not work, our tv did not work , our phone did not work. The shower had chipped paint and overall hotel maintenance was very poor. There were pieces of wall coming off the wall outside and inside the lobby. Out heater stopped working around midnight. We had to change rooms. Lucky the staff was accommodating and was able to move us to another room at that time. Well located hotel but one of the most poorly maintained hotels I have ever stayed. Definitely not worth the price.

I enjoyed my stay at the St. Charles, located next to a park right in town. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and attractive. The room amenities were just fine as well. Parking is right by the hotel. The man at the reception desk was always pleasant and helpful. The breakfast outlay could use more attention because on one morning in particular there seemed to be no one around to replenish it. Otherwise, the selection was adequate (oh, yes, how 'bout some bagels and orange juice in addition to the apple juice offered....). There are some very good restaurants and cafes in town and it's a pleasant walk down the long Main Street to the waterfront park for a nice view of the Hudson and the Catskills beyond. Hudson is a well preserved Victorian town. Would I stay here again - absolutely!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and well-appointed. Complimentary breakfast was reasonably varied though not always what i would personally choose. Hot water dispenser somewhat annoying. Would have happily paid for a better breakfast. Front desk staffed mostly at checkin time so not easily available for assistance - but retrievable by phone.

Staff was very pleasant. Building including rooms had a bad smell. Bedding appeared to be clean but paint on all walls had chips and looked as if items had been removed but spot wasn’t repaired. Windows very dirty. Immediately realized how old the building was. Lobby had large wall cut open as if repairs were needed but not fully repaired. For the price definitely not worth it.

A dingy, outdated facility that shows negligence. Surly, unhelpful staff, mostly invisible at all times. The property is located on a small square so the potential for something much better is certainly there. I would avoid this place unless others are full or excessively pricey. It shows negligence, both towards the facility and towards the guests.

My stay at this hotel was, without a doubt, one of the worst travel experiences I've ever had. It started right at check-in when the front desk staff informed us that the area was not safe, and they would need to lock the doors at night. Their reasoning? They were located across the street from a park notorious for local drug deals. This immediately set a tone of unease for the entire stay. The issues continued with our room. The air conditioning was broken, and it took three requests before any action was taken. When we called for the third time late in the day, we were told they couldn’t get a technician to fix it. Instead, they moved us to another room, which didn’t even have the king-sized bed we had originally booked. This room switch felt like a downgrade, rather than a solution. As if that wasn't enough, both rooms we stayed in were crawling with spiders in the window crevices, and stink bugs were randomly scattered throughout the property. The lobby had a constant, overwhelming smell of sewage, making it unpleasant to even walk through. To make matters worse, the TV in the lobby was always set to Fox News, which was frustratingly unavoidable. The hotel advertised a "free continental breakfast," but this turned out to be a complete joke. The breakfast was extremely limited and only served at 7 a.m. until it ran out, which, as we learned, was by 8 a.m. No egg patties were left by then. To make matters worse, another guest warned us to stay away from the apple juice a
