Thunderbay Golf course is highly rated and only 5 minutes away. 30 minutes from Lake Huron. Big Mac bridge is 90 minutes away! Fun and relaxation is waiting for you. This is an older cottage that is being updated it has all you need. Just bring your clothing and groceries! Early morning risers might see deer on their morning run while late night guests may have a visit from a coon or bear! Nature is at your doorstep. Big corner lot for parking your boat or toys. Peaceful neighborhood, not far from major shopping, restaurants, golfing, swimming, fishing, or Alpena airport .Enjoy your vacation without breaking your bank account. This cottage is perfect for the family or couple. This is not for the family that is looking for a high end rental!

Rustic cabin
Peaceful with nice view of lake. Read the previous reviews about mice, no mirror in bathroom (or anywhere) and comments from owner that these issues would be rectified, they were not. After our fifth night I spotted a mouse coming out of the trash can and into hole in the cabinet. I Started packing, owner refused to reimburse us for the other 5 days out of our stay. Then stated we left because of cooler weather/rain, this is why we came from FL to michigan in august to escape the heat!!!! There are a few other issues with this rustic place but i cannot list them all. Bottom line, if I wanted to live with critters i would pitch a tent!

Warning: rustic stay with cleanliness issues
Heads up, this is a very rustic, not well kept up and not well cleaned property. Examples: sticky pots and pans, coffee maker not cleaned out from previous guest, bugs under beds and mice present. In addition there’s no microwave, a lamp was missing a lightbulb and the shower head is command hooked up and unusable unless completely showering with it in your hand. I understand this is up north and in the woods, but the holes in the walls, holes in screens and dirt/grime on walls and surfaces could be remedied and haven’t been. If you’re cool with that—go on and book.

Beautiful Lake Avalon
We had a great time. Lake Avalon is beautiful and cottage was just a short stroll to beach access. Seems like a close, friendly community. We mostly were enjoying the outdoors for our time away but cottage had what we needed for our stay.

The cottage was nice even though it’s going through some renovations. The bed in the purple room is amazing, I haven’t slept that well in a long time.

Decent
Host communicated well. It is stated that renovations are ongoing so we expected some outdated stuff going in. Cleanliness was good. The lake was great. Clean and sandy beach areas we utilized a few times. The large amount of broken glass in the driveway that ended up in my foot, which I assume is from the missing outside glass table on the welcome paper, was quite a problem. We would have loved to grill as it is stated there is a grill available, however there was no propane tank. The mice running around is understandable because it is the country similar to where we live. However, the mice nibbles in the bread bag was unappealing. If it’s warm take a fan or two because it was quite muggy and no working fan beside the 6 inch personal fan was there. With 85 degree days it was needed so we purchased one and left with my in-laws when we left.

Cute cottage
Everything was very easy staying at this cute cottage. There was a Keurig coffee bar with coffee pods provided. The only minor suggestion I would have a microwave would have been useful to have. All the other necessities were provided. They also left us a couple bundles of wood and we had a nice fire in the fire pit. The lake a is just up the street and it is very nice. We have a very restful and enjoyable time.

Cozy lake cottage
Cozy little cottage with lake view just down the street. Cottage is being updated currently. However, that didn’t affect our Holiday weekend stay. Water pressure in shower works fine. You just have to switch the button if it’s slowly coming out. Handheld shower head would be better if it was mounted to the shower wall. They have bath towels but we couldn’t find any washcloths. Strong smell of stale cigarette smoke when we initially walked in. Opened the windows and sorted it out, smell seemed to disappear. Cute place with lots of potential.

Cozy Cottage needs help
The cozy cottage was good as far as the coziness of the cottage, the room sizes, beachiness vibe and the lake view. However there are several items that need immediate attention to make my stay better. 1. Bathroom shower head needs to be changed, it had a squirt gun size release of water which was not conducive to a good shower making it difficult to rinse off. 2. The stove/oven needs to have readable nobs. You couldn't read the temperature when using the stove/oven or whether it was on or off. 3. The bathroom didn't have a mirror so you could shave, style your hair, or brish your teeth easily. These items are not expensive and can be immediately fixed and that would make future renters stay better.

Quaint cottage but under construction/remodeling..would of felt more comfortable with safety features in home..no smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors...no visible fire extinguisher..but close to the beach and great price

Blast from the past
Several decades of colorful decor peacefully coexist in this sweet cottage straight from your best memories of childhood. A quiet neighborhood includes a couple of barking doggos but also elk bugles and loon calls. Sit by the outdoor firepit, or drink your coffee on the deck. Great communication from the host, big thick bath towels, and a sandy bottomed clear lake all make for an excellent place to stay.
