Macaulay Cottage, Grosebay, Isle of Harris

Macaulay Cottage is a traditional 4 bedroom stone built house set in the beautiful surroundings of the Golden Road in the village of Grosebay.
Fully furnished 2 storey house sleeping up to 7 people. Lower floor features dining room, sitting room, kitchen, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom and toilet with shower. Upper floor features 2 double bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Electric heating in most of the rooms.
Dogs are welcome at Macaulay cottage.
Only 2 minutes from the sea where otters and seals can be seen playing. Wildlife enthusiasts may be interested in eagle sightings in the area. Ideal base for hillwalking, fishing, golf or just a peaceful and relaxing holiday. A 20 minute drive from the famous sandy beaches of Harris. Local attractions include Harris Tweed, distillery, art galleries and trips to St Kilda.

Lovely quiet cottage
The cottage was spotless. we arrived to find a bottle of wine and fresh eggs waiting for us. We were made very welcome by Maree's parents on her behalf. The location was ideal for us to locate our days out walking on and among the hills. We hope to stay again

Excellent accommodation with beautiful views from the cottage. It was immaculately clean with everything we needed. The beaches on Harris were amazing especially Luskentyre. We were so lucky with the weather as well so couldn’t fault the holiday at all.

Great cottage in spectacular setting
This cottage enjoys a fantastic setting in Harris, a short drive from some of the best beaches you will ever see, mountains, wildlife and 2 billion year-old rocks! There is a large, secure garden outside and inside is warm and spacious with every facility you will need. I would not hesitate in recommending this property.

Property was excellent. Couldn't fault it. Lovely welcoming touches. Absolutely everything we needed was there. Very comfortable and space wise for 7 perfect. Lovely welcome from hosts mother who we could go to for anything we needed. Location was great for going north, south or west. East would have taken us out to sea!! Many thanks.

Very straight forward good communication with the owner in booking it .Very welcoming flowers,bottle of wine and 6 fresh eggs on arrival .3of us in total and all the kitchen equipment we needed .Two bathrooms which was great .Walks from the house which was great with the dog.

Lovely cottage, good location for exploring Harris
Our group of walking friends had a great week at Macaulay Cottage. It was comfortable, clean, cosy and generally well equipped. Well placed on the famous "Golden Road", but not too far off the "main" road to be a good base - less than 15 mins drive into Tarbert. The host's parents on the nextdoor croft were friendly and helpful, and we loved the sheep and lambs, ably organised by Bob dog! We had generally good weather, out for walks every day except when we went sight seeing to Lewis - a long drive, but worth seeing the Callanish Stones, Uig beach and Arnol Blackhouse (from the outside). Plus visiting the Scallop Shack and the Hebridean Soap Company. Altogether, a wonderful holiday.

Schönes Haus, nette Gastgeber inmitten schöner Natur. Aber unbedingt vorher in Stornoway einkaufen.
Schöne Wanderwege, aber noch schöner einfach über die Hügel eigene Wege finden. Tolle Strände. Aber kaum Möglichkeiten essen zu gehen . Selbst in Tarbert kann man kaum Lebensmittel kaufen. Also unbedingt in Stornoway komplett eindecken.Sehr nette Galerien teils mit Café.

Lovely host family who were most helpful to us. Large, comfortable and well furnished house with a well equipped kitchen. Good views over Grosebay and surrounding landscape. Excellent wifi and TV reception. This is an excellent base from which to explore south and north Harris. Only a short distance from shops, restaurants and petrol.
