Our stay at the Lookout

Amazing views of Tryphena Bay, sunrise and sunset. Wake up to bird calls everyday. Close to local shop and cafe. Comfortable bed, clean linen and towels.

Lovely location and quirky house

The house had beautiful views across tryphena bay. The driveway was very challenging and our van couldn’t get up which was fine but it was difficult bringing the luggage up. Once there is was a quiet house and we had a great time. Would have been good to know the oven and dishwasher required the generator to be switched on but once we knew it was all good.

Loved it. Great location, though a 4WD is essential to get up the driveway to it we discovered. Owner very helpful. Its a character house that comes with a dishwasher! Perfect holiday spot.

Excellent accommodation

I booked The Lookout for my boss and his family for their holiday. He was very impressed with the property and said their stay was excellent. Along the way, when I had a question, Angela responded quickly and was always very clear in her answers so I could make the best decisions to ensure my boss and his family had a nice holiday. I was also impressed with the "Welcome to our Home" package Angela supplied which gave detailed information that was helpful during the stay. I would highly recommend this property. It was a great experience all along the way.

The house is set in the most perfect location with spectacular views from every window. The sunsets and dawns every day were stunning. Living in the house is easy and the decor and books were truly appreciated. Loved the tui song, the kaka visits, the fresh vegetables and eggs! I would hire a 4WD next time for the driveway.

Perfect spot for deep rejuvenation and melting into nature

Loved the The Lookout! So tastefully decorated in a very spacious home with an outlook to die for. Really enjoyed ourselves and despite some bad weather, we were able to enjoy ourselves indoors. Would love to return.

The property was very nicely presented and furnished. A 'home-away from home'. The garden with fresh herbs and vegetables was a nice. I admit we harvested some lettuce leaves and a nearly over mature fennel bulb; it made a beautiful fresh salad. The previous tenets were correct ion pointing out that the driveway is step and long and tested our aged team to limit. Call us lazy but we rented a 4x4 for the duration.

An amazing house and spectacular view.

An amazing house and spectacular view. Everything you could need on hand and lovely garden. Definitely need a 4wd to drive up, particularly in the wet, but the walk up was good exercise for our holiday! Handy walk to the pub, cafe and store also.

Great Barrier is a grand place to visit, we will return.

Great Barrier is a grand place to visit, we will return. The house was perched on a hill and we watched the boats and the ocean and the sky all day and all night. Birds were singing in the trees. There is a huge wraparound deck. The bed was very comfortable and the house had absolutely everything you could wish for. Spacious, open plan, and great internet. And a beautiful shower. When I return to GBI, I would choose it over any other place. Thank you, Angela and Sharpie.

Absolutely stunning views in all directions from this special property,magic sunsets and sunrises. A lovely home full of interesting artifacts from around the world, lots of magazines, books and games and of course, a wonderful vege garden (much appreciated). Super comfortable place to stay and a real bonus having lovely linen and towels provided. We would love to come back.
