Comfortable with a great view
We were very comfy and felt right at home. The owner checked in with us shortly after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable! We would stay again.

Dorothy was very accommodating and friendly. The secret garden was a beautiful bonus. It’s in a great location where you can view the bridge from the windows and the porch. I loved the dog area. Will be back!

Wonderful Property!
This place is so beautiful and close to everything! Plus great view. The manager/owner is incredible friendly and loves dogs, didn't change me for mine and included treats and bowls for him. Property it's really big and has everything you will need, really worth every penny. Thank you so much!

Wonderful as usual!
Dorothy is so accommodating. Staying here is easy. It’s not our first stay and we will be back. It is perfect for my little old guy (15.5 year-old Jack Russell). The fenced areas are a God send! Beautiful location
We enjoyed our trip to Gold Beach, the property was easy to find, and afforded us a quiet and beautiful location, over seeing the Rogue River. We were thankful to have a dog yard and also areas to walk the dog.

Dorothy's House
I stayed here with two girlfriends for five nights and we were all happy with the accomodations. The bedrooms were a nice size and lots of closet space. We cooked all our meals and kitchen had everything we needed. There is a nice sized deck in back with table and several chairs. Make sure you use the chairs out front for your morning coffee and evening wine--nice view of river and bridge! We had parking for three cars.

Great Cool Stay
Great view of bridge and Rogue River. Easy access to Highway 101. Great weather while we were there. Got to sit on the porch and enjoy the coolness instead of the heat of California. Hosts were very nice and house had everything you needed and then some. Very pet friendly.

Great place to crash for vacation!
We chose to stay in Gold Beach for a few days while we explored the Southern Oregon Coast. There were 3 of us and our small (16 lb) dog. Dorothy's place was perfect for us! We got in late, so she turned on the lights for us and opened some windows so the house was fresh and cool. There is a huge, soft king size bed and 2 extra long twin beds. The bathrooms have plenty of space and the kitchen is huge and well stocked with dishes and everything we needed to cook some simple meals. There was also plenty of room to relax in the mornings and when we'd return in the evening. The patio is beautiful and the end is even gated so the dog could be out there without having to be on a leash. There is a cute little pet area as well. Dorothy came to greet us personally and meet our dog. She also stopped on another day to make sure everything was to our liking and going well. The cottage IS on a well-traveled road, but it was completely quiet in the evenings. We enjoyed being able to watch the boats on the river from the living room. Overall it was like staying with family — everything was comfortable and welcoming. We would stay here again.

So disappointed
I regret to have to write this review. But I wish someone would have before I booked this rental. I want to say that we spoke to Dorothy before we left and she was very apologetic and is now aware of the issues. I'm not sure why no other reviewers have mentioned it, but the minute we opened the door to the rental we were hit with a stale and musty smell in the house. We had had a long day of traveling and just wanted to enjoy our new space but the smell was so strong I just wanted to cry. We immediately opened several windows. The other down sides were a weirdly tall, lumpy and uncomfortable bed in the master bedroom. And where the house seemed clean at first when you took a closer look there were things like a band-aid wrapper and hair on the bathroom floor and a plastic zip tie in the corner on the carpet of one of the rooms. Making me very uncomfortable about the level of cleaning done to the entire rental. The decor and furnishings, especially the wall to wall carpeting, are dated, in serious need of an upgrade, and a very deep cleaning. Extra care needs to be taken in cleaning when you have a pet friendly rental. Not all pet owners are as responsible as they should be. The "botanical garden" is not part of the rental house area and the pet secure yard is really, really tiny. The home is a very good size with great amenities like a full size kitchen, washer and dryer, and beautiful views. But overall it was a very disappointing experience and ruined our entire weekend stay.

The Motel 6 might be nicer.
Let me preface what I’m about to say by stating that both Dorthy and her son are very nice people. As far as being pleasant and friendly they definitely get 5 stars. However, call me picky, but this place was a long way from what I’d consider clean. I really wish I could attach the photos I took. Very dusty and very outdated place. The carpet was pretty disgusting. Hence they allow pets and it shows. The furniture is different than the photos. One chair looked like it had been a doggie snack for quite awhile. Some of the windows you can’t see through. They’re old and appear to be leaking in between the pains. Several outlets with no outlet covers. A lot of dust. My allergies were not happy. They didn’t clean up after the previous dog(s) were there. A huge turd bomb was in the very small little garden area. Also, the place is right on the road. So loud road noise all night. The kitchen sink has a mesh food trap in it that had several chunks of food squashed in it from the prior guests. That grossed me out. I would describe this place as closer to a fisherman’s crash pad than anywhere you’d really want to vacation with your family. As far as the town of Gold Beach…we enjoyed Jerry’s Jet Boats a lot. The Rougue River is beautiful and our boat pilot, Scott, was fantastic. We ate at The Landing and The Porthole which were both pretty good. Pretty small town with not much else going on. I think this place could definitely benefit by using a Prop Mgmt Company to help them stay up to speed. I understand that we stayed during peak season, but no way this place is worth what we paid.
