This Fawlty Towers hotel is in desperate need of renovation - both exterior and interior. There is obviously a keeness for fish tanks, both inside and out. Which is fine, but that's clearly where most of the money has been spent. That, and the 27,492 laminated wigns everywhere. That being said, the very first fish tank you see by the reception desk has 3 cabinet doors underneath, which are broken off and leant against it (don't worry, there's a sign asking you not to open them. Laminated.) Bedroom & corridors had wallpaper peeling, dust, mould, cobwebs and dirt. The "4 poster deluxe" room was comically poor. I can confirm the bed was factually 4 poster - and to be fair, the room was large. But that's it. Complete with suspended ceiling with square tiles from an office block.
Now, in fairness - it's a 3 star hotel, and the price was very reasonable at £85 on a Saturday night. So im not expecting the world, but this place wildly missed the mark.
Looking at the previous reviews, I hope the owners take this on, rather than respond with a defensive or dismissive comment, as seems to be the case with other reviews.
No, I didn't raise this with staff at the time as it is not something that could be changed for the night, and frankly it wasn't asked at check-out. The reception staff were, to their credit, friendly enough - but the same can't be said for the "ward matron" of the breakfast service.
