Do people who like bed and breakfasts simply have low standards? This was not even close to a 10/10 property.
We stayed in the "Grand Suite." Far from grand. Maybe all of the 10/10 reviews are from stays in the main house. There are two outbuildings, and the Grand Suite is one of the 4 rooms available detached from the main house.
The exterior of the building looked like somewhere you might stay for a summer camp. The worst part was the interior. We were immediately greeted with mold/mildew smell in the room, as the host quickly moved to crank up the two AC units.
Cooler temperature doesn't fix mold/mildew smell, which was pervasive the entire stay. My wife made an effort to breathe through her shirt the entire time.
I get it's an old structure. If you like to smell humid, wet, rotting wood, this is the place for you.
The room definitely has gone through the "landlord special" treatment. Have an imperfection? Nothing painting over can't fix.
The bathroom was the worst part. Clearly a cheap DIY or hire-cheap-labor job. Tiny big-box store vanity. The bathtub and shower door doesn't stay closed because it's on a hill. Who needs a level structure.
Standing in the bathtub to shower, I was worried I was going to fall through the bathtub, since it doesn't have support and bends under a person's weight. I should've taken a picture of the shower fixtures. Probably the worst job and caulking I've ever seen.
We were surprised the hot breakfast was free.
Enjoy!
